Principal's Report

Flag Raising Ceremony
It is always a privilege for us to be invited to Elisabeth Murdoch College's (EMC) National Reconciliation Week celebrations. This gives us all an opportunity to respectfully acknowledge our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia. Thanks to Pip, I escorted her and 9 of our Deadly Little Langys over to EMC on Tuesday for this ceremony.
Performing Arts Night
Mr Flynn has been holding auditions for students to participate in the Performing Arts night – we’ve had about 120 students want to audition. There has been a vast range of skills, vocals, dance moves and most of all lots of enthusiasm. Congratulations to the following students who have made it through to the perform on the evening:
We hope to see you at the Performing Arts night on Tuesday 1st July at 6pm in the Langwarrin Performing Arts Centre. (Tickets will be available soon)
ES appreciation Day 16th May
Did you know that we now have over 35 Education Support staff that work at LPS. Whether it’s at the farm, in First Aid, balancing the budgets, answering the phones, helping the classroom, running small literacy groups, mowing the grass or holding the STOP sign. We are very fortunate to have a great bunch of Education Support staff that work with us in either a part time or full time capacity. Last Friday we recognised them and thanked them for their ongoing support to us all.
Network Leadership day at EMC with WPS, LPPS and EMC leaders – 27th May
This Tuesday a group of our student leaders attended the Student Leadership Day at EMC. The day began with an engaging Q&A session with EMC alumni, where students gained valuable insights into life beyond school and the many opportunities that lie ahead. Hearing from former students helped to inspire and motivate our leaders as they considered their own future pathways.
Following the Q&A, students participated in a series of interactive workshops focused on developing their leadership skills. They explored the importance of effective communication, discovered their personal leadership strengths, and learned about the wide range of leadership opportunities available at EMC. The workshops also marked the beginning of their work on a school improvement project, which they will continue to develop in the months ahead.
In the afternoon, the group attended the Flag Raising Ceremony to commemorate Reconciliation Week. This was a meaningful opportunity for our students to show respect and support for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and to reflect on the significance of reconciliation.
It was a wonderful day and our student leaders returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a strong commitment to making a positive impact within our school community. Thanks to Mrs Payne for supporting this day to happen.
Ramps project
It is a little frustrating that this is taking longer than anticipated; however we finally have some concrete slabs down where our new ramps will be installed. The majority of the temporary fencing has been removed which makes for easier movement in and around our buildings. We expect the new ramps to be installed towards the end of the term.
The Big Freeze (FightMND Event)
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a group of diseases that attack the nerve cells controlling the muscles needed to move, speak, swallow, and breathe. As these neurons stop functioning, the muscles weaken and waste away. We know that this is a popular fund raiser during the month of June and many people purchase a beanie in support of this worthy cause.
School Council has approved the wearing of the MND beanies for LPS students from the 2nd June through to the 13th June
A reminder that beanies should be removed when inside.
School Tours and Enrolments for 2026
We are very keen to know what our sibling enrolments are likely to be for 2026 so we encourage you to enrol your child as soon as possible. This will assist greatly with our forward planning! We have school tours happening for new families interested in enrolling in our school. Put the word out there and let everyone know all the great things we do here at Langy! To book a tour or pick up an enrolment pack, please call by the office and see one of our lovely office team.
Have a great fortnight,
Mrs Pepper
