Dear families,

As we wrap up Term 3, I want to take a moment to congratulate our entire school community on what has been a truly outstanding term. It’s hard to believe how much we’ve packed into these past eight weeks—our classrooms have been buzzing with learning, and our calendar has been filled with events that have brought joy, connection, and celebration to our students and families.

From the excitement of the Year 3/4 and 5/6 camps, to the energy of athletics trials, the challenge of ICAS assessments, and the warmth of Grandparents Morning, Term 3 has been a showcase of what makes our school so special. We’ve explored curiosity during Science Week, celebrated stories and imagination during Book Week, enjoyed the talents of our students in musical galas, and welcomed new faces through our Prep Transition program—just to name a few highlights.

Each of these moments has been a celebration of learning, growth, and community. I’m incredibly proud of the way our students have embraced every opportunity, and grateful to our staff and families for the support and enthusiasm that make these experiences possible.

R U OK Day

Today we recognised National R U OK? Day, a powerful reminder of the importance of checking in with one another and starting meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Across the school, students engaged in thoughtful activities that encouraged them to reflect on how they feel, and to learn ways to support their peers and friends.

Spring Picnic Celebration

On the first day of September, our school community came together to celebrate the arrival of spring with a joyful whole-school picnic on the oval. The sun was shining, the air was fresh, and the oval was transformed into a vibrant sea of colourful picnic rugs, laughter, and shared conversations. Students and staff alike embraced the spirit of the season, enjoying their lunch outdoors while soaking up the sunshine and the company of friends. The atmosphere was buzzing—not just with chatter and giggles, but with bubbles floating through the air, adding a touch of magic to the afternoon.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible SRC students who took the lead in organising this wonderful event. Their efforts helped create a memorable experience that brought our school community together in celebration of the beauty of spring.

Music Gala

Last week, our school was filled with the sounds of music, joy, and pride as we hosted the highly anticipated Music Gala. It was a truly special event that showcased the incredible musical talents of our students at HPS, and the audience was treated to an afternoon of inspiring performances. From the uplifting voices of the choir to the impressive instrumental work of the novice band, concert band, and symphonic band, each group brought their own energy and artistry to the stage. It was wonderful to see students perform with such confidence and passion, reflecting the dedication they’ve shown throughout the term.

A huge congratulations to all the performers, and a heartfelt thank you to our music teachers Erin, Doug and Justin, for their guidance and support in bringing this event to life. The Music Gala was a beautiful reminder of the power of creativity and collaboration—and a proud moment for our school community.

Father’s Day Breakfast

Last Friday morning, our school was filled with warmth and smiles as we celebrated Father’s Day with a special breakfast event. It was wonderful to see so many students and their dads enjoying a delicious bacon and egg roll together, creating moments of connection to start the day. A big thank you to Their Care for running the event and helping make it such a memorable occasion for our families.

Year 3/4 Camp – Adventure and Memories at Phillip Island

This week, our Year 3 and 4 students embarked on their very first school camp at the Phillip Island Adventure Camp—an exciting milestone filled with fun, friendship, and personal growth. For many, it was their first time away from home, and they embraced the experience with courage and enthusiasm.

Over three action-packed days, students took part in a range of thrilling activities including the pelican feeding, giant swing, flying fox, adventure walks, and the initiatives course, all designed to build teamwork and confidence. The evenings were just as special, with night walk and a cozy movie night. It was a fantastic camp that created lasting memories and strengthened connections across the cohort.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Year 3 and 4 teachers, who spent countless hours planning and organising every detail of the camp, and to the amazing parent volunteers who gave their time and energy to support the students. The camp simply wouldn’t have been possible without you!

As we approach the end of a busy and vibrant Term 3, we’d like to remind families that school will finish early on Friday 19th September at 2:30pm. Please ensure arrangements are in place for your child’s early dismissal.

We wish all our students, families, and staff a safe and restful break. Enjoy the time to recharge and reconnect—we look forward to an energised start to Term 4.
