Grandparents Day

This morning during our Liturgy to celebrate Grandparents day, we focussed on the Beatitudes, a reading from Matthew’s Gospel. Each phrase of the Beatitudes expressed the blessings of living in a certain way.

Today we took time to acknowledge the blessings we are bestowed by our grandparents and the special people in our learners' lives. We hope and pray that you each enjoyed your time at St Mary’s and that you heard and felt how much you are loved.

Beatitudes for Grandparents

Blessed are the grandparents who have more food on the floor than could have been in the little bowl; for they have fed the hungry and witnessed the miracle of multiplication.

Blessed are they who can look back on life and know they are loved.

Blessed are the grandparents who teach the things they have seen and learned to their children and their grandchildren.

Blessed are those who hear their name called and see little eyes light up; for they have tasted love.

Blessed are they who give out small treats which are often not found in our own homes, for they shall be pestered for more treats.

Blessed are those who can give the children back at the end of the day, for they will be resting well in bed.

Blessed are the old and the young, children, parents and grandparents who acknowledge with gratitude the great gift of life they have been given to share.

Blessed are those who know the ways to bring back memories of yesterdays.

Blessed are those who make it known that we are loved and not alone.

Blessed are the grandparents who know they are loved as they love in equal measure. Theirs is the fullness of heart.

Socktober

Throughout the month of October we have been collecting odd socks in each Year level. These socks will be used to make a classroom ‘Sock-erball’ which will be used in a ‘Knee-Up Challenge on Wendesday 29th October at recess. One learner from each classroom will challenge a staff member! Watch this space!

Catholic Mission

On Wednesday this week we wore odd socks to school and donated a gold coin. All funds raised will be donated to Catholic Mission who supports children who are less fortunate than ourselves.

St Mary’s Choir hits the road

On Wednesday St Mary’s Choir walked to Wharparilla Lodge to demonstrate and share their love for song with the residents. Smiles on the faces told a wonderful story. We then travelled to St Mary’s Church to lead the congregation in song at the Midday Mass.

The Choir were well received on both occasions and certainly raised the roof and spirits.

St Mary’s Choir look forward to developing relationships further in the future.

Thank you to Emma Taylor for supporting us on this excursion as we build community, connection and relationships.

F.I.R.E. Carriers

F.I.R.E. Carriers play an important role in our school and community.

Their role is to work alongside others promoting respect, fairness and inclusion for Aboriginal people.

On Tuesday afternoon we will welcome Michael Chisholm, CESL Aboriginal Educator, who will speak with all Years 4 and 5 learners regarding this important role and responsibility.

All Souls Day ~ Sunday 2nd November

On the Feast of All Souls Day, we celebrate, honour and pray for all those who have died to rest peacefully with God.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.
