Book Week Parade

A huge thank you to all our families who supported the children, including many pre-schoolers, in creating their Book Week Parade costumes. There was an amazing range of characters from books for us all to admire.

Author and Illustrator Visits

Lucinda Gifford - Author and Illustrator

Last Friday, our Prep - Year 4 students enjoyed sessions with Lucinda Gifford. We all learned how to develop character drawings by making light circles and lines to place the main parts of the character, then using bolder lines to create the features.

Lucinda was very impressed with our talented illustrators and the wonderful way the children engaged in the activities. 

It was very special to have Lucinda read to us her book Valerie, the Bravest Sausage Dog. She even hinted to us that there might be a new Valerie adventure in the making!

Andy Griffiths - Author

Tomorrow, Thursday 27th August at 2:00 pm, Andy Griffiths will be entertaining us with a very exciting session whee the chidlren will help Andy create a Choose Your Own Adventure style of story.

Andy's books can still be ordered online from The Little Bookroom until Sunday 30th August. Please note however that the books will not be signed by Andy.

Jo Dabrowski - Author

On Friday 28th August all of our students will participate in sessions with Jo Dabrowski who is a local author. 

We congraulate Jo as both of her books that were shortlisted for the CBCA Awards this year have been awarded prizes:  The Thing About Christmas - receivedHonours in the Early Childhood category and Dear Broccoli won  the Shadow Judging Prize in the Picture Book of the Year category.
