Footy Tipping: And the Winner is...

Congratulations to everyone who entered our 2026 CCK Family and Friends Footy Tipping Competition.

After 24 rounds of fierce competition, our top tippers are:

3rd - Natalie Angelone

Place getters can collect their prize money from the school office on Friday.

MACSSIS Letter of Informed Consent

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS): 31 August –18 September 2026

Every year, we pause to listen to our students, families and staff to gauge how our learning community is travelling. This feedback is invaluable to our progress as an effective school community and is backed by evidence-based research and best practices.

A significant and formal way in which we engage and gather data is through MACSSIS, the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys.

MACSSIS is a set of surveys that have been built specifically for Catholic schools in Melbourne by the School Effectiveness team at MACS, in partnership with researchers at Learning First and in wide consultation with principals in Catholic schools in Melbourne.

In 2026, students, families and staff are invited to participate in MACSSIS via our secure and purpose-built online platform. The online platform is where our school leaders will access the summary reports that visualise the results of the student, family and staff surveys.

The MACSSIS survey platform is operated by an independent supplier, ORIMA Research Pty Ltd. The platform meets the high security and privacy standards for handling student and school data.

Students at our school will be provided with supervised sessions, where teachers are on hand to help and answer any questions.

A random selection of 70 families will receive an individual password to the surveys early next week. Families can complete the survey at any time during the three-week window via the link. Feedback indicates that previous surveys were completed on a range of mobile devices and web browsers.

Our community’s opinions are critical to understanding how our school is performing – MACSSIS is a key data source for guiding the ongoing work to improve our school.

All participation is invited, welcomed and 100 per cent voluntary. The surveys are not a test; they are an inclusive way to support the work we are already doing to improve our school. Everyone has the right to refuse to participate, or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during or after completion of the survey. Please notify the school if your child does not wish to participate.

School Hats

As per our Sun Smart Policy, children are required to wear either the school legionnaire’s hat or a bucket hat (both Anti-Cancer Council-approved) whenever they are outside from mid-August to the end of April.

Please ensure your child has their school hat each day so that they can participate fully during their PE classes and recess breaks. Now might be a good time to give those hats a wash!

Timetable Changes

Over the last few weeks of term, timetable changes will be implemented to facilitate classroom program planning for Term 4. Pease keep track of Class Dojo and Classroom Noticeboards for information.

Footy Colours Dress Up Day

On Friday 4th September we will celebrate the AFL final series with our annual ‘Footy Colours Dress-Up Day’.

On this day children are invited to wear their favourite AFL team colours to school and I hope to see a sea of black and white (Go Pies!)

Father's Day Brekky

Also on Friday 4th September, we will kick off Father's Day Weekend (ha ha), with our Fathers’ Day Breakfast.

Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. and what better to serve Dad than a hot bacon and egg roll? Don’t forget to wear your Footy Colours to school (dads and children)!

Italian Day

On Wednesday, October 14th, our children will participate in Corpus Christi Italian Day. This is an exciting day when we, as a school community, will celebrate all things Italian. The children will participate in four special activities they selected during their Italian lessons. Please be aware of the ingredients in our cooking activities—they are listed below. Feel free to see me if you have any questions.

Pizzelle (Waffle) Making - (plain flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar, oil, lemon rind, cooking spray)

Pasta - (Tomato passata, crushed tomatoes, oil, garlic, basil, plain flour, eggs, salt, pepper)

If you have a spare lemon or two, we would LOVE some donations for our cooking activities. We will start collecting those on Monday, 12th October, so the rind stays firm.

As part of the celebrations, our wonderful PFA is organising a special lunch for the children. More details will be available closer to the day.

To enhance the atmosphere, we would love for the children to come to school dressed in something that reflects Italian culture. In the past, we have been graced with the presence of soccer players, an ancient Roman soldier, a pizza chef, and even a special visit from a mini Pinocchio. Colours that represent the national Italian flag (red, white, and green) can also make a colourful costume. Of course, this is entirely optional, but it makes for a great Class Dojo photo.

9.10 - 9.30 Whole School Assembly - all families welcome

9.30 - 10.15 First Rotation

10.15 - 11.00 Second Rotation

11.00 -11.45 RECESS

11.45 -12.30 Third Rotation

12.30 -1.15 Fourth Rotation

1.15 - 2.00 LUNCH

2.00 - 2.10 Mark Afternoon Attendance

2.15 - 3.15 PERFORMANCE IN THE HALL - Ciao Italia Incursion

3.20 - 3.30 Return to the classroom for dismissal and clean up.
