5/6K Term 3 Report

Religious Education/SEL:
This Term the Grade 6s have made their sacrament of Confirmation. This term we have been learning all about the gifts and the fruits of the holy spirit. We have reflected on what gifts God has given us and how we can use those to show dignity to others. We are very lucky to have so many empathetic students at SJV!
We have also reflected on the personal strengths we have and how this helps shape our identity and confidence within ourselves. We have looked at using a positive mindset to reframe negative thoughts that we might experience.
Literacy:
We have enjoyed learning about the history immigration in Australia. We created a timeline of events and tracked the population growth over time. We were fortunate to have some guest speakers of family members and staff of SJV to share their own experiences and journey in immigrating to Australia.
We also had an expo for our Foundation Buddies to see our dioramas on a chosen natural disaster.
Mathematics - Angles Investigation:
During our unit on angles we have designed our own mini golf courses that meet particular constraints such as:
| Shots | Lines/Angles | Shapes |
|
|
|
Here are a few examples we designed!
Foundation - 100 Days of Prep:
We celebrated with the Foundation level for achieving the milestone of 100 days at school - congratulations!
Kicking off Book Week - Marc McBride School Visit:
We wish all of our families a restful end to the school term!
