Jason Klarwein from Grin and Tonic recently led Drama and English workshops for Years 10–12, with strong student participation. These sessions supported students’ understanding of upcoming content. We value our ongoing partnership with Grin and Tonic, who will present a one-man show at Bulimba Ja in two weeks – a performance worth attending.
Currently in Drama, senior students developed acting skills with Jason and are preparing for their first performance task, enhancing their adaptability and understanding of human nature. A skill incredibly important in all career opportunities.
In Visual Art, Ms Olding and Ms Almond will attend an exhibition on 28 March where 2025 graduate Zach Nicholls will display his work at GOMA. This is an outstanding achievement of Zach’s work. We are enormously proud of his achievements, proving that chasing your dreams in the arts and having the support of the school can ensure success.

The art studio is buzzing with excitement as our Year 7 students build their skills while creating their ceramic animals. It has been a pleasure watching their unique ideas take shape and seeing the boys offer thoughtful feedback to one another.

Our Year 11 Visual Art (General) students recently attended their stimulus excursion to Atherton State High School's Agricultural Department. Mr Harris and the team facilitated a range of hands‑on activities that our gents engaged in with great enthusiasm. We then enjoyed lunch at Gallo Dairyland, where we gained insights into farming from both a banker’s and a farmer’s perspective. Students are now developing experimental artworks in response to the inquiry questions they generated during the excursion.

Year 9 Visual Art gents are creating imaginative artworks that promote Cairns' world heritage sites by drawing attention to special characteristics of the region or our culture, or by drawing attention to issues impacting healthy ecosystems.
