STRONG MINDS,

GENTLE HEARTS

News from Frazer Rigby

Deputy Principal

Thank you to all parents and carers for assisting your sons to start the year in such a very positive manner. At the commencement of the year, we have a particular focus on grooming and wearing the correct uniform. (See page 13 of the Student Diary for further information.) This includes using the correct college bags. So far, most students have been excellent in this regard. As we are at the halfway mark of the term, please ensure that your sons' hair meets college requirements which are clearly articulated on page 13 of the diary.

Stop Drop Go Zone

Thank you for continuing to follow the guidelines below, which make dropping off and picking up your sons significantly safer:

  • Please move forward continuously in the zone.

  • Pick up your sons 10–15 minutes after the bell.

  • Collect them from Barlow Park.

  • Keep the signed area between the bus and Stop Drop Go zones clear.

  • When the zone is full take the looping option of right into Draper, Spence, Severin and Scott Streets.

However, when waiting, please do not line up blocking the entry to the buses and inhibiting other traffic from travelling safely along Scott street. The police have indicated that they will patrol and issue tickets.

Note: The Stop Drop Go Zone is closed on Wednesdays until 2.40pm to allow our buses to safely return students and staff from sport.

Using the Student Diary and homework

Good use of the diary is one way to remain on top of the demands of your sons' studies. Students are encouraged to write their subjects in their diaries for each day. Homework should be written beside each subject, and if no homework is set, students should write in what revision or other study they plan to do for that subject. Recommended minimum homework times are published on page 11 of the diary.

Throughout each term homeroom teachers regularly check students' progress in this area.

Nothing can replace parents' or carers' encouragement around homework. A regular talk with your sons about homework, study and assignments is recommended. Please look at the diary and expect to see homework written for each subject. If there is nothing written, please challenge your sons about what they are doing, and expect that they will spend the recommended minimum time doing homework and study.
