It has been a busy start to Saints Sport in 2026, with training and competition ramping up for what promises to be an exciting year. Our CISSA squads have played a friendly round against Trinity Bay and our Round 1 fixture against Redlynch College. The first round of the CISSA competition saw Saints score a clean sweep against Redlynch College with a perfect round with victories across all five of our sports. We take on Bentley Park College in our next round in Week 6 in an away fixture.

Junior Rugby League Local Competition
Our Year 7 and Year 8/9 Rugby League teams started their season with games against Trinity Bay SHS and Bentley Park College. Both teams faced tough opening losses but displayed great character and resilience, setting a strong foundation for improvement in the coming rounds.
Round 2 saw Saints take on Bentley Park College. The Year 7 team raced out to an early 18-0 lead dominating possession and field position. However, some small lapses on either side of half time saw the lead reduced to just two points before we scored the final two tries to take a comfortable 26-16 victory. Our Year 9s competed in a back and forth encounter trading tries with Bentley Park. Despite looking strong at times throughout the game, ill-discipline let us down and we succumbed to a 20-22 point loss.
Both teams will look to get wins against Cairns SHS next Wednesday in our away fixture.

2026 TCC Sport
Congratulations to all St Augustine’s students that have been successful so far in their TCC district sport trials. Please ensure that sac.absences@cns.catholic.edu.au is notified of any student absences for the TCC and Peninsula trials. The full procedure is outlined, below.
St Augustine’s College is part of the Trinity Coast Central (TCC) district, which serves as the pathway for students to represent the Peninsula region in the Queensland School Sport Championships.
In 2026, the TCC sign-up process will be conducted electronically. Students must register their interest in trials by completing a Microsoft Form from their school accounts. This ensures that a Parent Slip is generated and sent home with the necessary paperwork before the trials.
Completed forms must be re-uploaded to the Parent Slip with permission attached for approval by Mr Seivers. If students encounter difficulties uploading their forms, they can alternatively email them to Mr Di Salvo atsac.sport@cns.catholic.edu.au. For trial dates and details, please refer to the 2026 TCC Calendar.xlsx.
The following TCC trials have already had parent slips issued. If you have not received a copy and your son would like to trial, please send an email to sac.sport@cns.catholic.edu.au:
