Growing International-Minded Citizens
Events such as Harmony Week play an important role in IB schools by bringing international-mindedness to life. Through these experiences, students develop the learner profile attributes of being open-minded and caring. They learn to respect different perspectives, show empathy, and build a deeper understanding of others—key qualities for creating a more peaceful world.
I love sharing my culture and seeing other people's culture so I can learn more about them. Harmony Week is about loving all people equally no matter what culture, nation or belief they have. Aavika 3B
I enjoy learning about other people and supporting their culture. This helps the world because when we live in a community, even though we are all different cultures we can be kind and share our world. – Percy 3B
At GNLC we learn many things that can help us in the future to make the world a better place. Right now, in year 5, we are learning about how to solve conflict in our lives. If we get really good at this, we can use our skills to help solve conflict around the world and make it better for everyone. - Roshan 5B
At GNLC, we learn about diverse perspectives and how to live harmoniously by embracing and celebrating all cultures. We have explored different kinds of conflict and learnt that harmony is a better choice. Being open-minded helps us to understand other people which leads to a more peaceful future. - Arisha 5B
Harmony Week reminds us that while we are all unique, we are stronger when we work together with respect, understanding, and care.
