Principal's Message

Mr Ben Morgan | Principal

Dear families,

It’s safe to say that our year at John Paul II has been a year of growth and achievement. Our students, staff and community have achieved what we set out to do at the beginning of the year through our Annual Plan. By staying true to our pillars of CommunityWellbeing and Curriculum, we have seen some positive growth.

We have built stronger connections between families and the school through a renewed focus on community events. We have successfully implemented The Resilience Project, developing a deeper understanding of gratitude, empathy, mindfulness and emotional literacy. We have also completed significant capital works, including the installation of two new playgrounds to enhance student wellbeing and engagement. In addition, we introduced a staff coaching system to continually strengthen our practice in delivering high-quality teaching and learning programs, and launched a school-wide approach to Mathematics. Continuous school improvement is not possible without a supportive community, and these achievements are a credit to the dedication and hard work of our staff through the JPII Working Parties.

Our 2026 pillars are Spiritual GrowthLearning and Wellbeing. These are student focused, with a range of strategies to promote growth. We will focus on providing meaningful experiences in Liturgy and prayer, maintaining established Literacy programs and strengthening Numeracy practices, as well as improving student connection to school and understanding of emotional literacy. We look forward to sharing more information early in 2026.

We wish to thank Mr Luch Brighella for his hard work and dedication to the sustainability program. Luch will be finishing his Sustainability Teacher role, and the garden projects will continue to be led by the Sustainability Working Group, with support from Matt and John. We hope to see Luch at John Paul II in a relief capacity in 2026.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and look forward to another fantastic year at John Paul II Catholic School in 2026.
