I would like to begin my last report for this year with a big thank you to all our families for their support and entrusting us to teach your children again this year. It has been a productive and rewarding year for us as their teachers and it has been a pleasure to have them here at Macleod College.

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind, to say the least for us here in Primary land. The Year 6 Graduation Night was a lovely conclusion to the primary years for these students. They have done themselves proud and we know they are ready for the next stage of their educational journey. We bid farewell to just 2 students from this group, who will start at new school’s next year. We wish Ellie and Nidia every success for next year and hope that they enjoy the adventure that awaits them in secondary school.

I was privileged to be invited along to the Big Day Out with the Year 6s this year. It was a fun-filled day which involved arcade games, challenges and bowling. The students were a pleasure to accompany and enjoyed spending time with each other as a group. I know that I am feeling my age after events like this, but it was well worth it for this terrific group. As always, they represented our school proudly in public.

The P-6 Awards Night is always a wonderful way to celebrate the successes of our students, and I commend them all on their hard work, positive attitudes and dedication to their learning. These students live our values so truly each day and help make our school and community the great place that it is.

Our annual Movie and Barbecue Day was enjoyed by all this week. It is great to see the students mixing across levels and relaxing. The weather was very kind to us and we were able to enjoy our lunch at Macleod Park in comfort. A big thank you goes to Jane and Charlotte as well as Mark from Their Care who cooked the sausages and made sure we were all well fed and hydrated. The day ran seamlessly due to your great input.

I would like to also acknowledge some key people who support our school by going above and beyond for us all here in Primary:  Jane Galanti for your tireless effort and time to run Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, barbecues for events, bake stalls, raffles, fundraisers and generally support any event we run for the school community. Your work and support is appreciated more than we can say.

Mark Younes, our Their Care educator, you have built our OSHC program into a viable successful program from the ground up. We are extremely grateful to you and your unwavering support for our school. I know that our parents appreciate the care and support you provide for their children and indeed their families. We look forward to continuing our relationship with you and Their Care in 2026.

We look forward to the new year, as we will welcome quite a few new students here in Primary, which will see our student numbers grow again. We thank all our parents and carers for their continued support and know how lucky we are to work in such a wonderful community.

As we say goodbye to another school year, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, a restful break and a happy, healthy new year.
