Head of Sport Report

The ISA Summer Sport season kicks off this weekend, and I am looking forward to seeing some strong results. Teams have been training well since the end of last term, with coaches continuing to build skills and teamwork. During the holidays, the First and Second V Girls Basketball teams took part in a five-hour training camp in preparation for the season—a great display of effort and commitment. Many thanks to Coach Rod Miskell for giving up his time to run the day.

At BMGS, we go beyond simply participating in the ISA competition. Where opportunities arise, students are entered into pre-season tournaments as well as non-pathway sporting events such as triathlon, mountain biking and golf. Parents are encouraged to get behind our teams by supporting and encouraging their children to be open to these opportunities. The aim is to help students broaden their skills, challenge themselves in new environments and further develop their love of sport.

This term, the focus is on communication. Several notices have been sent to parents and students regarding uniforms and training schedules and it is important that communication remains open to ensure a smooth transition from winter to summer sports. A quick email often solves a problem quickly, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if there are any questions or concerns.

Congratulations

NSWCIS Athletics

At the end of last term, a number of BMGS students represented the School at the NSWCIS Athletics Carnival, competing against some of the best athletes from across the state. Among these outstanding athletes was our very own Zara Nicholas.

A special congratulations goes to Zara, who was named Athlete of the Meet in recognition of her exceptional performances on the day. This is a well-deserved reward for the many hours she has devoted to improving her times and distances, and reflects Zara’s dedication and commitment to excellence in both training and competition.

Well done to Zara and to all students who represented BMGS with pride at the NSWCIS carnival.

URGENT: PLEASE NOTE

Round 7 of the Summer ISA competition will be held on Saturday 31st January. This is the Saturday prior to school commencing on the Monday. Training will take place as usual in the week prior to the 31st January. Please mark this in your calendar so that you remember that this is a compulsory game day and training week.
