Congratulations, Simeon

During the school holidays, Year 9 student Simeon Gee performed in the City of Penrith Eisteddfod Society’s 40th Annual Eisteddfod. Simeon received first prize in the Open Age section for a piece by a 20th/21st century composer. Consequently, he was chosen to perform this piece at The Joan on Saturday, 18 October, at the Penrith Eisteddfod Society’s 40th Anniversary Concert, featuring Australian classical pianist Simon Tedeschi. Simeon will be performing the Shrine Battle Theme from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OST (composed by H. Wakai, M. Kataoka, M. Miyoshi, M. Ohashi, and T. Usui).

Simeon also received second prize in the Open Age Australian Living Composers section, where he performed his own composition Oneirophobia, meaning “fear of dreams.” He is passionate about film and game composition and has recently shared his own works on Spotify and YouTube. Simeon received third prize in the Open Age section for a piece by a Russian or Ukrainian composer, performing Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in G-sharp minor, Op. 32 No. 12. He also received Highly Commended in several other sections, performing works by composers including Chopin and Beethoven.
