From the Head of Junior School

Our Stage 2 students showed incredible resilience, cooperation, and courage during last week’s camp. Through challenging activities like the Gorge Swing, High Ropes and Archery, each student demonstrated what it means to be a supportive and enthusiastic member of our school community. For Stage 2 children, being away from home, eating different food (and maybe too many lollies) and sleeping in a room full of friends can be really challenging.

Throughout our camp, students encouraged one another, faced their fears with courage, and worked together to solve challenges. It was great to see everyone including other children and forming new friendships—especially with students from the other campus. The way our Stage 2 group embraced teamwork and inclusion truly reflected our school values. I was particularly impressed with two brand new students, who came along happily, made new friends and tried new things! I think they definitely feel a part of BMGS now.

All students in the Junior School completed a common writing task this week. They were all presented with the same stimulus and they were given the same amount of time. Even our Kinder students gave it a go, and Pre K used the opportunity to spark some great discussion. Over the next few weeks, our teachers will be closely examining the writing samples that all of our children have done, looking to see how skills and knowledge grow as the children do across the school. I know that Mr Sanders is keen to dive deeper into Writing in 2026 too.

A special congratulations to Matthew and Elyse, who have both been nominated for recognition for their outstanding commitment to community work. Elyse’s dedication to her local Pony Club and their compassionate care for rescued animals at MME Homestead are inspiring examples of kindness and service beyond the classroom.
