Moving Our Bodies to Keep Fit!
Our students have been developing their skills in writing an Information Report about different ways we can move our bodies, more importantly about how movement helps keep our bodies fit and healthy.
Students enjoyed a fun and engaging movement game, exploring activities such as jumping, hopping, running, stretching, balancing and dancing. They discussed how these movements make our bodies feel and how they help us stay healthy.
Students learned that regular physical activity strengthens our muscles and bones, improves balance and coordination, and gives us energy. They are now using these facts to write clear sentences and explain how movement helps keep our bodies strong and fit.
We are proud of their enthusiasm, participation and growing confidence as young writers and active learners!

✏️ LS1 Seniors Clinic 2 – Narrative Writing
Our LS1 Seniors Clinic 2 students have been busy developing their narrative writing skills! Students have been exploring how authors create engaging stories through interesting characters, vivid settings, descriptive language and exciting plots. They have been planning, drafting and refining their own narratives, using their creativity and imagination to bring their stories to life.

Support Our Quantity in a Jar Fundraiser
Our Social Justice Action Team is asking our school community to support our Quantity in a Jar Fundraiser, raising much-needed funds for St John Bosco School in Vailoa Palauli, Savai‘i, Samoa. The Salesian Sisters opened the school at the beginning of this year and are working hard to provide education and opportunities for the local children. Every contribution, big or small, will help support the school and its students. We encourage our families to get behind this wonderful cause and help us make a difference!
SENIOR SPORTS
WINTER LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP – GRADE 5/6’S
On Tuesday September 2nd, our senior students participated in the Winter Lightning Premiership. The sports teams, including Cricket, Basketball, Softball, Handball, and Tennis, engaged in a Round Robin competition against primary schools in the Hampton Park District. This district consists of ten primary schools, encompassing both state and Catholic schools, however, only seven competed against each other.

The Physical Education teachers in the Hampton Park District develop a balanced round robin schedule. This process consisted of several meetings to reach a consensus that ensures equitable competition among all schools. The collaboration was one of professionalism and mutual respect, aimed at optimising student performance. Additionally, it emphasises the importance of sportsmanship and respect among the teachers involved.
In each sport, teams participated in three or four matches, which included semi-finals, culminating in a Grand Final featuring the two top teams. Our Cricket team triumphed in the Grand Final, marking a remarkable achievement; congratulations to Michael and the entire team. The Basketball Girls Team secured first place, demonstrating exceptional performance throughout the day, they will advance to the Divisional competition. Our Basketball Boys team came in fourth place, congratulations. The Softball Team finished in second place after competing in the Round Robin format. Our Handball Team showed significant improvement during the competition and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Lastly, our Tennis team played extremely well, which was quite gratifying, as they also demonstrated progress throughout the day.
The performance of our students was outstanding, and they had a wonderful time. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication of the coaches for the various sports, as well as our Senior Teachers at St Frances de Sales Primary School: Michael, Melody, Michelle, and Amanda, along with the invaluable support from Learning Support Officer, Andriana. We have also been consistently aided by parental involvement, particularly Louise, Emily and Divya. I am heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your continued support, which I appreciate endlessly.

JUNIOR ULTIMATE FRISBEE CLINICS
Juniors had a great time in their Ultimate Frisbee Clinic on Monday.
Juniors will have their third Ultimate Frisbee Clinic on Monday.
Please ensure students are wearing their sports uniform and have their water bottle. Reminders will also be placed in Afternoon Reminders.

GRADE 3/4 AND LS1 JUNIORS NETBALL CLINICS
Casey Netball will be providing free netball clinics for our Grade 3/4 students and LS1 Juniors next week on Friday 11th September while the Grade 5/6 students participate in the Resuscitate a Mate Program. We hope the Grade 3/4 students and LS1 Juniors enjoy the clinics and some might even discover that this is a sport they might want to take up out of school hours.
Students are to wear their sports uniform and bring their water bottle on the day. Further information has been provided to parents via nForma.
SENIOR EXTRA CURRICULAR EVENTS
LIFESAVING VICTORIA – RESUSCITATE A MATE
This year we have once again organised Lifesaving Victoria to deliver the ‘Resuscitate a Mate Program’ for the Grade 5/6 students. Life Saving Victoria’s Multicultural Resuscitate a Mate program is designed to introduce participants to emergency response management (DRSABCD). In the 1-hour interactive session, participants learn the steps to follow in an emergency situation and the skills to potentially save a life. This program is delivered by a trained Lifeguard.
The program will be delivered on Friday September 11th and will build on what the students have already learnt in their St John’s First Aid session.
Students may wear their sports uniform on the day. Further information has been provided via nForma.
WHOLE SCHOOL EXTRA CURRICULAR EVENTS
SFS TERM 3 AFTER SCHOOL AUSKICK
Students have one more session of the after school Auskick Program next week. We would like to thank Tyler from AFL for organising the program for us and Jonah for running the clinic.
A reminder that if your chills is participating in the Auskick Program they may wear their sports uniform to school on the Wednesday.
To pick up your child, please enter via the gates off the car park near the hall. If your child is going to after school care after the Auskick clinic the coaches will take students there. If it’s raining the session will be held in the Hall. Please enter the Hall door to collect your child at 4.20pm Parents are most welcome to stay and watch.
TERM 4 SWIMMING
Thank you to all the parents that have offered to assist in the Junior Changerooms. All parents that have offered to assist will need to attend a briefing session which I will run during Parent/Teacher Interviews on Thursday 17th September. I will run a session at 4.30pm and one at 7.00pm in the Meeting Room. If you are not able to make either of these briefings I will be in the Community Room during the evening from 3,00pm assisting with the book fair. Please come and see me.
