Little Learners

The past fortnight has been another busy and exciting time for our Little Learners! During Week 7, we spent time in the Kindergarten classroom, becoming familiar with our future learning environment. The children had the opportunity to sit at the desks, explore the classroom and experience some of the routines they will encounter at school. This is an important part of building confidence and independence as they begin to see themselves as capable and ready for their transition to Kindergarten.

We have continued to enjoy our focus story, The Gruffalo, reading and retelling the story together and using it as inspiration for our creative learning. Our art activities have been particularly exciting, with the children creating different characters from the story while incorporating mathematical shapes into their artwork. So far, we have made the Gruffalo, the snake, the owl and the fox, with only a couple of characters left to complete!

Our Little Learners have also been busy exploring patterns using different shapes. They have been learning to recognise, match and arrange shapes to create their own patterns, developing early mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. Alongside this, our hands-on activities continue to strengthen fine motor control, hand strength and coordination, important skills for writing, drawing and managing everyday tasks at school.

It has been wonderful to watch the children become increasingly confident, independent and comfortable in their learning. Through stories, art, mathematics, play and our Kindergarten transition experiences, they are developing the skills they need while, most importantly, having lots of fun along the way!
