Teach Well - Staff Professional Development
Wednesday 12th August - pupil-free day for students.
Please be advised that St Mary’s will be closed to students while staff participate in a CESL-directed Teach Well Professional Learning Day. Teach Well supports teachers to use evidence-informed, high-impact teaching practices. Staff will focus on explicit instruction, checking student understanding, providing effective feedback, maintaining high expectations and using classroom routines that maximise learning time.
This professional learning also supports our ongoing implementation of Magnify Sandhurst and our commitment to providing calm, consistent and engaging classrooms where every student can experience success. We understand that student-free days may require families to make alternative care arrangements, and thank you for your understanding.
Principal Appreciation Day!
Today, we celebrated and thanked Mr O'Shannessy for all the wonderful work that he does within and outside of this school. His drive and dedication to make this school a supportive, caring and welcoming environment have been recognised by all. We thank you for everything that you have done for St Mary's students, staff and families.

Athletics Carnival
Tuesday 11th August
The whole school will be participating the LCDSSA Athletics Carnival at the Lar Birpa Athletics Complex in Flora Hill. Students will be departing St Mary's at 9:10am and will return to school at 3:10pm. We ask students to wear full PE uniform and bring a hat, packed lunch, snack and drink bottle. If your child requires any relevant medications (e.g. Ventolin puffers, etc) please ensure that they bring them. Please bring a warm coat, as children will be sitting in the elements for extended periods of time throughout the day.
St Mary's Primary School will celebrate Book Week on Friday 28th August. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and join in the celebrations and activities. Our Book Week Parade will take place at 9.00am. Please feel free to join us.
Following the parade, students will walk to the Inglewood Kindergarten and share their love of reading with the younger children.

The parent and student puberty education night for Grade Five and Grade Six students will be held in an online format. Please mark the following dates in your calendar. More information will be sent home closer to the dates.
NCCD - LEARNER DIVERSITY
Please take a moment to read through NCCD Parent, Guardian and Carer Fact Sheet. This provides insight of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) process. This term we begin preparing documentation for the 2026-2027 NCCD cycle, this will be referenced in your upcoming PSG meeting.
At this time of year, schools across our diocese participate in a review and auditing process to ensure that the adjustments and supports provided for students are appropriately documented and align with their needs.
