Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
What a wonderful occasion our St Mary’s Trivia Night was. The evening was celebrated in exactly the right spirit, with plenty of laughter, friendly competition and an opportunity for our extended community to simply enjoy being together. It was particularly special to see people come together from Inglewood, Bridgewater, Wedderburn and beyond to support St Mary’s and share in what was a memorable evening.
Events such as this do not happen without the generosity of many people. We sincerely thank the local businesses and individuals who donated prizes and items for the evening, Jayne and Dave from Black Wallaby Wines for providing the wine tasting, Munch Hub for keeping everyone well fed, and the Inglewood Town Hall for providing such a great venue. A special thank you also goes to Greg, our trivia master, who did a fantastic job keeping the night moving and entertaining everyone along the way.
I want to acknowledge our St Mary’s staff, who generously gave their time to plan, prepare, and run the evening. Much of the work happened behind the scenes and outside normal school hours, and their commitment helped make the night a success. While fundraising was not the main purpose of the evening, we were overwhelmed by the wonderful response to our raffle and merchandise sales, which raised an incredible $2,000. These funds will go directly towards student celebrations for the remainder of the school year. Most importantly, thank you to our community for turning up, joining in and celebrating St Mary’s in such a positive way. It was a night that truly reflected the strong community spirit that has always been such an important part of our school.
Spirituality Day
Last Wednesday, our staff joined colleagues from across the Eaglehawk Hub for the 2026 Staff Spirituality Day at St Liborius School. The theme, “Living Life to the Full,” gave us the opportunity to step away from the busyness of school life and spend time reflecting on our own spirituality, our purpose as Catholic educators and the way our faith influences the work we do each day.
The day included prayer, reflection, workshops and opportunities to listen to a range of perspectives, including Bishop Tim Norton SVD. It was also valuable to gather with staff from a number of neighbouring Catholic schools, including St Peter’s, Holy Rosary, St Kilian’s, DOXA, OLSH Elmore and St Liborius.
For us at St Mary’s, the day was a timely reminder that spirituality is not something separate from our work; it is reflected in the relationships we build, the care we show, the way we serve others and the hope we offer our students. As we continue through our final year as a school community, opportunities such as this help us remain grounded in who we are, what we value and the legacy we hope to leave behind.
Parent Surveys
It’s that time of year again when families will receive a letter inviting them to complete our annual school survey, along with a unique access code.
Next Friday, a survey link will be distributed. This is an important opportunity for parents and carers to share their experience of St Mary’s and reflect on the impact our school has had on your child and family. As we move through our final year, we would particularly value hearing about the successes, experiences and aspects of St Mary’s that have been meaningful to you.
Your feedback provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the work of our staff, the achievements of our students and the strong sense of community that has shaped St Mary’s over many years. Participation is voluntary, however, we strongly encourage families to take the opportunity to have their voice heard. Only one parent, carer or guardian per family is invited to complete the survey, using the instructions and unique access code provided in the letter.
Awards Assembly next Friday
Students will welcome family and friends to join us for a special Feast of the Assumption Assembly, where we will come together in prayer and reflection. Following the liturgy, we will hold an Awards Assembly to celebrate the achievements, efforts and contributions of our students across different areas of school life. It will be a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge students who have demonstrated our school values, shown growth in their learning and contributed positively to the St Mary’s community.
