PRIMARY ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

With hot summer days extended throughout Melbourne, mother nature spoilt us with the most perfect of sunny and wind-free day to hold our first Primary Athletics carnival as a prep to year 6 cohort.

Our primary athletes, in a sea of house colours, were able to run, jump, throw and hurdle their way through athletics events at Toomuc athletics reserve. For our middle and upper primary students, the carnival also doubled up as an athletics trial for selection for the Lakeside College district team later in the year.

After competing through the athletic rotations, primary students came together for the last event of the day- the teamball events. With the middle of the track a buzz with students in year level house groups, points were won as students worked cooperatively in their teams to win with their house team.

The day was a success with students pinning hard earnt ribbons to their t-shirts and participating in a variety of events to score points for their team.

Congratulations to Jamieson House for winning the shield in a very closely fought competition between the house teams.

Special mention to the PE team for making the day a success!

Year 8 Volleyball

On Thursday 13th March Mrs Gross and I had the pleasure of taking two girl’s teams and a boy’s team to the Year 8 interschool volleyball competition. Competing against strong teams, they demonstrated impressive teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm throughout the event.

Although they didn’t take home the pennant, their commitment and positive attitude stood out. Every player gave their best effort, supporting one another and displaying excellent sportsmanship both on and off the court. Their determination was evident in every set, with some fantastic rallies and well-coordinated plays keeping the competition intense.

The teams are to be commended for their respectful conduct, perseverance, and teamwork. They were a credit to the College, embodying our values of dedication and fair play. A huge congratulations to all the players for their hard work and for making us proud!
