Ben PLANT
Music Coordinator
Classroom Teacher
We've had a busy time this last term in the Highvale Secondary Music Program!
Spring Concert
e saw some fantastic performances from our senior musicians at the Spring Concert. Featuring performances from all of our senior ensembles as well as some excellent performances from the VCE Music students, soloists, bands and small ensembles, for some Year 12s this was their last performance for us! Great to see some of the younger students stepping up to open the show and help out in the stage and tech crew, ready to lead the program in the future.
VCE Music Performances
Our hard-working VCE Music students have commenced their performance exams, having perfected their program over countless class performances, assessments, SACs, after-school performances and rehearsals. Without exception, I'm extremely proud of their efforts over this year - please wish them all a successful and enjoyable performance exam!
Lunchtime Performances - R U OK Day & More
We've seen a lot of students putting their hands up to perform and crew for all sorts of events across the school community, from Symphonic Strings and Stage Band (plus some exceptional bands and soloists) at R U OK Day and assemblies and events throughout the year. These students are modelling a growth mindset exceptionally well, taking every opportunity to grow and expand their skills - not to mention share their wonderful abilities with the rest of us!
Upcoming Tours
Term 4 is when our performers visit the local community to perform at aged care facilities, libraries and primary schools. Keep an eye out for these events as they're a fantastic way to connect with community and share music with some extremely appreciative and receptive audiences.
Renewals Coming Up Soon
Renewals for instrumental music lessons will be sent out very soon, so please make sure to complete the process as soon as possible to secure your spot for 2027. New students are always welcome - come see Mr Plant if you'd like to organise a trial lesson!
