Grade 6

Welcome back to Term 4, Grade 6! It is hard to believe that we have officially entered our final term of primary school. While it is certainly a little bit bittersweet, we have an incredibly exciting and busy term ahead of us, with plenty of opportunities to celebrate, learn and make some wonderful final memories together.
With camp, Gumbuya World, graduation and many other exciting events on the calendar, there is certainly a lot for our Grade 6 students to look forward to! We are excited to make the most of every moment and enjoy this very special final term of primary school together.
Literacy
In Reading, we have started our new class novel, Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. The story follows Morrigan Crow, a girl who has been blamed for a series of unfortunate events throughout her life. Her world takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious stranger arrives and invites her to compete in a magical competition in the extraordinary city of Nevermoor.
As we explore the novel, students will be developing their understanding of fantasy texts, characters, settings and magical worlds. This will also lead into our Writing unit, where students will investigate the features of a fantasy narrative and begin creating their own imaginative stories.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we have been diving into the world of statistics and data. Students have been learning about the process of conducting a statistical investigation, including asking meaningful questions, collecting and organising data, analysing results and drawing conclusions.
We have also been learning how to use digital tools to create and present graphs, giving students the opportunity to explore different ways of displaying data and consider which graph is most appropriate for different types of information.
It is fantastic to see students returning ready for a big final term. We are looking forward to an unforgettable Term 4 and, most importantly, celebrating everything our Grade 6 students have achieved throughout their primary school journey. Bring on the final term!
