Prep Students Celebrate Shrove Tuesday

Our Year Prep students enthusiastically celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making and enjoying their own pancakes as we prepared to enter the holy season of Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday.

As part of our Catholic tradition, students learned that Shrove Tuesday is a time to prepare our hearts for Lent a season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Making pancakes reminded us of the custom of using up rich ingredients before this important time in the Church’s year.

Students continued this learning in Italian class, exploring how this tradition is celebrated in Italy and learning related vocabulary.

Through this fun hands-on activity, students practised teamwork while reflecting on how they can grow closer to God during Lent.

A wonderful and delicious way to begin our Lenten journey together.
