Greater Western Cross Country 

Congratulations to all of our students who represented our school at the Greater Western Cross Country in Warrnambool last Tuesday. Your determination, resilience and sportsmanship were outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of the effort and commitment you showed on the day. Competing at this level is a fantastic achievement, and you represented our school with pride. Well done to everyone involved!

Colac Division AFL 9’s Football

Congratulations to all four of our football teams for their outstanding efforts at the Colac Division ‘AFL Play’ Lightning Premiership last Friday at the Central Reserve. Each team represented our school with pride, demonstrating excellent teamwork, determination, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the day. Unfortunately, there can only be one winner on the day, and this was Sacred Heart Red. The following players will now progress to the Greater Western Regional Event on Wednesday June 24th at C E Brown Reserve, Wendouree. Congratulations to the following players who will progress to the Regional Finals – Toby M, Oscar M, Thomas W, Louis F, Bill F, Harry K, Luke M, Sid R, Jack W and Levi K.

A very big thank you to ALL the umpires and to coaches – Adam G, Alex B, Buckley G, Charlie S and to all the parents, guardians and grandparents who supported the day.

Colac Division Netball Lightning Premiership

Congratulations to all out girls who participated in the Netball Lightning Premiership last Friday at the Eastern Reserve. From all reports, all four Sacred Heart teams displayed great skills, teamwork, and determination throughout the day and should be extremely proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school. The following Year 5 Girls amalgamated with St Brendan’s and were the overall winners of Division 3 – Hannah C, Rory D, Jaymi B and Arliyah H – well done girls.

A very big thank you to ALL the umpires and to coaches - Deanne C, Shantelle F, Lily F, Stephanie R and to Cody M who helped run the day. Thanks also to the parents, guardians and grandparents who supported the day.

Colac Division Soccer

The Colac Division Soccer event is approaching quickly. This will take place on Wednesday 10th June at Colac Central Reserve. Trials will continue during this week for this event. Sacred Heart will be entering two boys teams and one girls team. We do need parents to assist with coaching on the day and we also need secondary students to assist with the umpiring.  If you can help out on the day or have a teenager in Years 8, 9 or 10 willing to umpire on this day, can you please indicate on the PAM document that will be sent out at the end of the week. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Colac Division Boys/Mixed Netball event will take place on Monday 15th June at Colac Eastern Reserve. Trials will continue over the next two weeks.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are cricket and football.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football.

3. What is your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in football is ruck because I can set up goals for my team.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was winning my first football premiership and receiving the Best and Fairest award.

5. What skills do you think you've improved the most? I have improved my jumping, and my leap is getting higher.

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Western Bulldogs.

7. If you could play a sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play a sport with any famous athlete, I would choose Cody Weightman because he plays for the Western Bulldogs.

8. What is your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is tying my shoelaces three times.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would describe me as a fair person who enjoys playing sport and always gives their best.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is fair, respectful and does not argue with umpires or other players.

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are football and basketball. 

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is football. 

3. What is your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position to play in football is midfield because I like helping both the defenders and forwards during the game. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when my team won the Grand-final. 

5. What skills do you think you have improved the most? The skills I have improved the most are my passing and teamwork. 

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is Collingwood. 

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play sport with any famous athlete, I would choose Cristiano Ronaldo because he is one of the best football players in the world. 

8. What is your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is listening to music and warming up with my teammates before the game. 

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would describe me as supportive, determined, and a good team player. 

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who always tries their best, respects others, and encourages their teammates.

1. What sports do you play? The sport I play is dance. 

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is dance. 

3. What’s your favourite position to play and why? My favourite position in dance performances is the front and centre because everyone has their eyes on you. 

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was winning first place for my dance performance. 

5. What skills do you think you’ve improved the most? I have improved my dancing skills and become much faster. 

6. Who is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sporting team is the Essendon Football Club. 

7. If you could play sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I had the chance to play sport with a famous athlete, I would choose a player from the Essendon Football Club. 

8. What’s your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My pre-game routine is stretching well to warm up my muscles. 

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and teammates would describe me as kind, encouraging, a great teammate, and a talented dancer. 

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is someone who remains respectful and positive, even when they lose.

1. What sports do you play? I play netball, cheerleading, running and gymnastics.

2. What has been your favourite sport to play? My favourite sport to play is netball, cheerleading and gymnastics.

3. What is your favourite position to play and why? My favourite positions in netball are C and GA because I love running around the court. In cheerleading, I love tumbling, and in gymnastics, I enjoy the bars and vault.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was winning the Netball Lightning Premiership. It was a great achievement because I scored all the goals in the game.

5. What skills do you think you've improved the most? I think I have improved my running the most. My endurance has improved and I am becoming a stronger sprinter.

6. Who is your favourite sporting role model? My favourite sporting team is the Australian Diamonds Netball Team.

7. If you could play a sport with any famous athlete, who would it be? If I could play a sport with a famous athlete, I would choose Liz Watson because she is my favourite netball player and a champion of the game.

8. What is your pre-game routine or lucky habit? My lucky habit before a game is wearing my lucky red bow in my hair.

9. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coaches and teammates would describe me as someone who tries her best in all positions in netball and is a very good player.

10. What makes a good sportsperson? A good sportsperson is kind, respectful and helpful to others.
