Walk to School

Well done to all the families that supported our Walk to School Safely day. This was a very important time for all our students to learn about safely walking to school. We were lucky to have the support of our local police, Mixx FM, Treasure Hunters, Colac Area Health, Colac Otway Shire and Colac Woolworths.

We also thank Andre Delorenzo and his staff from One Movement for leading our Year 6 students in a fun exercise program. This was followed by lunch at the Memorial Square.

Year 2 Excursion

Our Year 2 students had a great day learning about the Past and Present with their visit to Colac Historical Society, the Shrine of Remembrance, and exploring some of the older buildings along Murray Street. We would like to thank the lovely volunteers at the Historical Society, who made our students feel very welcome.

On Tuesday 26th May our Year 4 students worked with John form RAK Radio to write up their own radio segments and performed them. They learnt all about radio awareness. The final product was recorded with sound effects. We look forward to listening to the students' performances.

News from the Sacred Heart garden

Thanks to 4LC for the huge effort they did to get the vegetable garden paths covered with cardboard and bark chips to stop the weeds growing. It makes our garden look very impressive.

They also dealt with the smell of the compost tubs and covered them with leaves and shredded paper. One compost pile is now covered with plastic, turning it into golden soil in just a few months.

Please remember to take off the naughty stickers from your fruit before they end up in the compost. Worms don't like stickers, Great learners do!

Well done 4LC. You are stars.

In other garden news, one of our giant pumpkins was awarded second place in the School Category of Multiflora Nursery’s Giant Pumpkin Competition. The pumpkin tipped the scales at an impressive of 32.5kgs, a fantastic achievement for our school community.

This result reflects the dedication and care shown by students and staff who worked together to plant, nurture, and maintain our pumpkin patch over many months. Their hard work was rewarded with a Bee and Insect Sanctuary Kit and an Edible Flower Garden Seed Shaker, which the school received as prizes for finishing in second place.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this outstanding gardening success!
