Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers,
National Reconciliation Week (NRW) (27 May–3 June) invites all Australians to build respectful relationships, trust, and equality with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Last Friday, Mr Garner’s Year 1 class led our assembly by exploring what reconciliation looks like in everyday actions — listening to First Nations voices, learning local stories and language, and showing respect to the country. The message was clear: reconciliation isn’t passive; it’s something we do together, every day.
As a school, we commit to continuing this learning beyond NRW through classroom inquiry, Acknowledgement of Country, and practical actions that strengthen connection and understanding across our community.
Semester One Reports
Thanks to our teaching staff, who have been busily assessing students and completing reports that will be finalised in the coming weeks. In weeks 9 and 10 of this term, teachers have dedicated time to discuss students' achievements this year and set future goals. It’s important to note that these conversations are an integral part of the reporting process, and we stress the importance of parents participating. The children are invited to participate in part of this conversation, and parents will receive their child/ren’s mid-year report at this meeting. Parents are urged to book a 20-minute appointment with their child/ren’s teacher(s). These bookings should be made via the PAM platform and are open now. Please check your spam folder if you have not received anything, and give the office a call if you require assistance with making a booking. The Interviews will be conducted out of the Multi-purpose room.
Uniform Update
At last week’s SAC meeting, we discussed aligning uniform options. While girls have been able to wear navy track pants, boys have been limited to grey trousers. The SAC voted unanimously to extend the navy trackpants option to boys as well.
What’s changing
- Boys may now wear navy track pants as part of the school uniform.
- Navy track pants can be purchased from the school uniform shop and local retailers in Colac.
This change provides consistency and comfort for all students while maintaining a neat, school‑appropriate standard.
A reminder that bike shorts are not part of the girls’ school uniform. Students wearing shorts should wear the approved navy school shorts as issued (not rolled or altered). Thank you for supporting a consistent, neat standard for all students. If you need assistance with uniform items or sizing, please contact the office.
NO STANDING SIGN – Opposite the school on Hart Street
Parents please be reminded to observe the “No Standing” restrictions between 3:00pm to 4:00pm across the road from the school, along Hart Street.
This area has a “5 Minute Drop off zone” between 8:30am to 9:15am Monday to Friday only.
Parking officers will be monitoring the area and fines may be issued to vehicles parked in No Standing zones. We kindly ask all families to follow parking signs and use designated parking areas when visiting the school. Your cooperation helps keep our school community safe. Thank you for your understanding and support.
KING’S BIRTHDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY
School will be closed this Monday, June 8th, for the King’s Birthday public holiday.
Kind regards,
Karl Dwyer
Principal
