PROGRESSIVE ACHIEVEMENT TESTS (PAT)

We have completed our semester one Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) in all classes from Year 1 to Year 6.This is an adaptive testing platform for Mathematics and Reading. These tests are designed to assess students with a range of text types and skill areas to ensure that students’ reading comprehension and mathematical abilities are being captured.

The data collected from the assessment results allow teachers to identify points for learning and target their teaching to suit the individual or cohort's learning needs.

COLD WRITE

Earlier in the term we completed a Cold or Warm Write, as they are known in kindergarten, these are writing tests that occur five times a year. There are a variety of text types that are covered including recount, narrative and persuasive. The data collected from the piece of writing helps to track student progress in writing. This year we are marking with NAPLAN marking guidelines. Teachers then identify students' writing strengths and weaknesses so they can work collaboratively with the students to improve their writing, through goal setting.
