Principals' Message

Mrs Dominica Bearman

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 6 and this edition of the newsletter. As we move through the middle of the term, it has been wonderful to see our students continuing to demonstrate enthusiasm, resilience and a strong commitment to their learning. Our classrooms and the playground have been filled with energy, creativity and collaboration. We look forward to the exciting opportunities this week and the many events still to come this term.

Catholic Schools Week - 2026

This week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week which is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the important role Catholic schools play in nurturing and supporting every young person in our care. This year’s theme, Our Hope Filled Future, highlights our shared mission of providing a faith-filled and hope-filled future for all students.

Here at St Joseph’s, we are proud of the many ways our students are supported to grow and thrive through the dedication, care and commitment of our wonderful staff. We thank our teachers and staff for the positive difference they make each day in the lives of our students and families, helping to create a strong and supportive learning community grounded in faith, hope and compassion.

Staff News

We are excited to warmly welcome Georgia Bustard to the St Joseph’s Barraba staff team as our new Year 5/6 teacher, commencing next term.

Georgia brings with her a passion for teaching and learning, and we are looking forward to the wonderful contributions she will make to our school community.

Students will have the opportunity to meet Georgia during a “Get to Know You Day” in Week 9, and we know she will receive a very warm St Joseph’s welcome.

We are thrilled to have Georgia joining our team and look forward to the exciting journey ahead.

This means that there will be a few staffing changes made across the school. Maria Wilson will now job share with Justine and will teach the class each Friday. Dominica Bearman will now job share with Amy and will teach Mathematics each day in Stage 2.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Rachel Caskey and Deb McDouall, who have filled these positions during the absence of a teacher. Your support, flexibility, and dedication to our school community have been greatly appreciated.
