Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL)

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a consistent whole-school approach to creating a positive, safe and supportive school environment, where all students can be respectful, responsible and resilient.

PBL invites teachers, administrators and family members to work together to teach and support positive behaviour expectations.  PBL is implemented with the desired outcome to improve the behaviour of all students in all school environments.  It provides the opportunity to measure the behaviours of students, to ensure that preventative and appropriate strategies can be implemented where an identified need is recognised.

We are currently working through many stages of this process and staff are undertaking professional learning to implement this with fidelity.

Last term our staff, students and parents had the opportunity to refine the values that we would like our students at Holy Family to show each day.

The values that were decided upon are- RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE.

The next stage in this process is to devlop and refine our 'behaviour matix' (or expectations).

This includes feedback from all stakeholders- staff, students and parents.  I am in the process of meeting with student focus groups to gain feedback, but we would also like any feedback from parents.

The draft of our behaviour matrix is below.  If you have any feedback on this, please email Eithne KIng at eking@hfmw.catholic.edu.au.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.
