House Athletics (Year 3-6)

House Athletics 2025 Wrap-Up
Duncan Mckinnon Reserve was filled with red, blue, yellow and green on Wednesday the 26th of March when Ormond Primary School held their annual 3-6 House Athletics carnival. Everyone dressed up in their house colours and competed in a variety of track and field events, including the teachers. All competitors did an amazing job representing their house and not only cheered on their own house, but showed all of the school values by cheering everyone and showing excellent sportsmanship.
There were many highlights and achievements across all of the events. The 100m Sprint Championship was hotly contested and the whole of the 3-6s were there to cheer everyone on. At high jump, the nervous wait to see if the bar dropped after being gently nudged kept all of the competitors on their toes. In the long jump, the participants lept skillfully from the track before soaring gracefully, most of the time, into the sandpit trying not to lose their balance and fall backwards. In shot-put the participants held the 3kg iron ball near their chin and pushed with all their might to land it on the sand without throwing it. The discus was a challenge to hold, however when it was explained as ‘yeeting a pancake so as it spun like a UFO’ there were some great results.
Once again, the students at OPS had an amazing time whether they won a ribbon or not. The points won will be added to the Term Leader board and the winners will be announced at assembly on the last day of Term 1. Thank you to Mr Pannam and the teachers for all of their hard work in organising and running the day and also to the wonderfully supportive parents who volunteered to help make this year’s athletics carnival an unforgettable experience.
