Year 9 News

Term 3 has been a busy and rewarding term for our Year 9 students, with many opportunities for learning, personal growth and connection. It has been pleasing to see students developing greater independence and confidence as they navigate the increasing expectations of Year 9.
A particular highlight this term was the Year 9 Camp, which provided students with the opportunity to step outside their usual routines, challenge themselves and strengthen friendships. The experience encouraged students to work together, try new things and build memories that they will take with them beyond the classroom.
Across their subjects, students have continued to develop their skills and knowledge while working towards achieving their personal best. We encourage students to reflect on their progress this term and consider the habits and strategies that will help them continue to grow throughout the remainder of the year.
As we approach the final part of the school year, maintaining good attendance, organisation and a positive approach to learning remains important. Being present and prepared each day allows students to make the most of their learning, stay connected with their peers and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
We would also like to thank our Year 9 students for the many ways they contribute to our College community. Their continued efforts to demonstrate respect, responsibility and excellence help create a positive environment for everyone.
We look forward to seeing our Year 9 students continue to build on their achievements and finish the year with confidence and pride in what they have accomplished.
Year 9 Camp
Earlier this term, Year 9 students from Morwell Campus had the incredible opportunity to spend five action-packed days at the Melbourne Discovery Camp. While the week got off to a rocky start with trains not running on Monday morning, students adapted quickly and travelled to the city by coach.
Once in Melbourne, students experienced the city’s iconic attractions. Highlights included the breathtaking views from the Eureka Skydeck, the historic Shrine of Remembrance, a behind-the-scenes tour of the MCG, and ice-skating at the O’Brien Icehouse. Students also enjoyed the Melbourne Zoo, a relaxing river cruise, a visit to the Imax Theatre, bowling, and the immersive art experience at the Lume.
Food was another exciting part of the camp, with students sampling a wide variety of cuisines including Greek, Chinese, Italian, and classic favourites like burgers and chips. Visits to restaurants such as Yassas and The Crane allowed students to try dishes like chicken and lamb souvlaki, dumplings, honey chicken, and fried rice, broadening their culinary horizons.
Students also appreciated the chance to explore Melbourne’s shopping districts during free time, including Melbourne Central, Bourke Street, and South Wharf DFO. Throughout the week, students were organised into colour groups for head counts, creating team names and signals, while Doxa staff guided them safely through trams, crowds, and city navigation.
The Year 9 Melbourne Camp proved to be a memorable adventure, combining fun, learning, and the excitement of city life, leaving students with stories and experiences they will treasure for years to come.
