Prep E has had an amazing start to Term 3! With lots of amazing things happening this term we have used the first few weeks to settle back into routines, friendships and learning.
In Literacy we have begun learning about digraphs and understanding that two letters can make one sound. In Maths we have been learning about patterns. Last week we took a stroll in our nature play garden and created patterns with nature items we could find.
A verse we have focused on this week is:
"Before I even speak a word, you know what I will say..." - Psalm 139:4
Knowing that no prayer is silly or not heard by God. In fact, we can speak to Him just like a friend and he will listen to everything you want to say.
It has been amazing to see the students return to school rested, settled and ready for another term of learning, fun and adventure!

Welcome back! It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second half of the year. It has been so exciting to see the incredible progress our Prep students have made. They are becoming more confident every day as they read, write and spell words, add numbers together, and explore patterns and shapes. It is wonderful to see how much they have grown since the beginning of the year!
We have loved hearing all about everyone's holiday adventures. Students enjoyed sharing their experiences with the class before drawing pictures and writing sentences about what they did during the break.
In Mathematics, we have been learning about patterns. We headed outside to collect natural materials such as leaves, bark and rocks, then used them to create our own repeating patterns. The students showed great creativity and teamwork as they searched for different items and designed their patterns.
To celebrate filling our Happy Hippo Jar at the end of last term, the class enjoyed a very special movie afternoon. We transformed our classroom into a giant blanket fort, snuggled in together, and enjoyed some delicious snacks. It was a fantastic way to celebrate all of the positive choices and teamwork the students have shown.
This term in Humanities, we are learning about celebrations and have been discussing the different events and traditions our families celebrate. In Science, we have begun exploring the weather and are becoming little meteorologists by observing and tracking the weather each day.
We are looking forward to another wonderful term filled with learning, growth and lots of fun experiences together!

Year 1
It has been such a joy to welcome our Year 1 students back after the holiday break! We have loved being together again, catching up with friends, sharing stories, and settling back into our classroom routines with happy hearts.
We've been making the most of the sunshine whenever it appears, enjoying time learning and playing outdoors. A special highlight was when Olivia brought in her adorable one-week-old Silkie chicks. The children were so excited to meet them and loved observing them up close while learning about how they grow. It was a wonderful reminder of God's amazing creation.
We've also been thankful for the simple blessings God provides each day, including the opportunity to enjoy our delicious lunches together and spend time with our friends.
Another highlight of our first week back was helping Mrs Nield in the library. The students enthusiastically sorted books and helped care for our library, demonstrating kindness, responsibility, and servant-hearted attitudes. It was wonderful to see them putting their faith into action by serving others with such willing hearts.
As we begin this new term, we thank God for His faithfulness and are excited for all the learning, growth, and opportunities that lie ahead. We look forward to seeing how He continues to guide and bless our Year 1 class throughout the term.

Welcome back to Term 3! It has been wonderful to see all of the Grade 2 students return with smiling faces, positive attitudes, and enthusiasm for learning. Everyone has settled back into classroom routines beautifully, and we are looking forward to another exciting term filled with new experiences and opportunities.
This term in Humanities, we are learning about the past and exploring what life was like many years ago. Students will discover how people lived, worked, travelled, and played, while comparing life in the past with life today. They will also look at different historical buildings in our community and discover why they are important to maintain. This topic has already sparked many thoughtful questions and interesting discussions in class.
A highlight of the term will be our excursion to Flagstaff Hill, where students will have the opportunity to experience history in an engaging and interactive way. They will explore historical buildings, learn about early settlers, and take part in activities that bring the past to life. The best part is that all students are asked to come dressed in an olden days costume! Simple outfits inspired by the early 1900s, such as long skirts, aprons, trousers, suspenders, hats, or bonnets, are perfect. We can't wait to see everyone's creative costumes and enjoy this fantastic learning experience together.
We are looking forward to a wonderful Term 3!

While Mrs Hales was on leave for the first week of Term 3, our Year 3 class was in the very capable hands of the wonderful Mrs Steph Tuisuva, and the students enjoyed a fantastic week of learning together.
To conclude our Humanities unit on Australia and its neighbouring countries, the class took a deeper look at Fiji. We began by locating Fiji on a map and discovering its place in the Pacific before learning about the country's geography, culture, traditions and daily life. Students explored what school life is like for children in Fiji, completed a class quiz, and compared life in Fiji with life in Australia.
A real highlight of the week was drawing on Eseta's family heritage. Eseta proudly shared traditional Fijian items from home, including clothing, a sulu, a traditional wooden nai wau, the Fijian flag and family photos, giving everyone a wonderful insight into her culture. Many students also had the opportunity to try on traditional Fijian clothing, making the experience even more memorable.
The class then explored the beautiful tradition of Fijian masi (tapa cloth), learning how it is made and the meaning behind its striking geometric patterns. Inspired by these traditional designs, students created their own masi-inspired artworks, carefully planning and drawing their own unique patterns. They also put their creativity to the test by designing an island resort for one of Fiji's many islands, showcasing both their imagination and their growing understanding of the country. It was a wonderful way to finish our neighbouring countries unit while celebrating the rich culture and traditions of one of Australia's Pacific neighbours.
This week, three of our Year 3 boys - Isaac, George & James - proudly presented the culmination of an extension project they had been working on with Mrs Jones all of last term. We are incredibly grateful for the time and expertise Mrs Jones dedicated to supporting these students throughout the project.
The boys combined their shared interest in ninjas to investigate the topic in depth, while also developing important research skills. Rather than simply copying information from the internet, they learnt how to locate reliable information, take notes in their own words and organise their findings into a meaningful presentation.
Working collaboratively, they designed an informative display poster and confidently shared their learning with the class. To top off their presentation, Charlotte wowed everyone by demonstrating some impressive karate moves as a fun grand finale. The excitement continued as every student had the opportunity to try breaking a practice board using a karate strike, which was a huge hit with the class.
The boys should be incredibly proud of the effort, teamwork and perseverance they showed throughout the project. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning shine through, and we once again extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Jones for making this enriching opportunity possible.

Our Year 4 students have settled back into their learning routines beautifully this term and have had a fantastic start.
In English, we have begun our novel study of The Thing About Oliver by Deborah Kelly while exploring the features of informative writing and learning how authors organise and present factual information. We also enjoyed rich discussions about diversity and inclusion through our novel study. As part of our literacy learning, students have also been fascinated by the history of space travel and the incredible story of the first Moon landing.
In Mathematics, students have been investigating transformations, learning how to identify and describe flips (reflections), turns (rotations) and slides (translations), while also developing their understanding of rotational measurement.
One of this week's highlights was creating colourful symmetrical paintings by folding painted paper to explore the concept of symmetry in a hands-on way.
Beyond the classroom, our Science and Humanities units have introduced students to Australia's climate and vegetation, alongside investigating how living things obtain the energy they need to survive.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Sonya, our wonderful cleaner, whose hard work helps keep our classrooms clean, welcoming and ready for learning every day.

Year 5
This week, while Year 6 are on camp, Year 5 have stepped up to complete some of the tasks that Year 6 usually do.
They have enthusiastically donned gloves and gone in search of other classes compost bins. They have collected the fruit and food scraps from all Junior School classes and the staff room, and then deposited their contributions into the school's green bin. They then cleaned out each classes compost bins and returned them to their rooms. Then they returned to the Year 5 room, after washing their hands.
It has been wonderful to see the Year 5s willingness and enthusiasm for taking on this extra responsibility, showing that they are very capable and ready for their Year 6 responsibilities next year.

Our Year 6 students have had a fantastic start to Food Technology this week!
We began by learning about kitchen safety, hygiene, and the importance of working safely and responsibly in the kitchen. Students were introduced to safe food handling practices, how to use equipment correctly, and the expectations for working together in our Food Tech room.
Once everyone was ready, we put our new knowledge into practice by making delicious yoghurt bowls. Students enjoyed choosing from a variety of healthy toppings to create their own colourful and nutritious snack.
It was wonderful to see everyone showing enthusiasm, teamwork, and creativity while building their confidence in the kitchen. We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning new cooking skills and exploring healthy, delicious recipes together!
