Deputy Principal's Update
Staff Professional Learning Days
Before welcoming students back for Term 3, our staff spent two days learning, growing and enjoying time together as a team.
Our professional learning included three very different, but equally valuable, experiences.
Staff participated in the Christian Schools Australia (CSA) Conference, where this year's theme, Cultivating Joy: Practices for Flourishing Communities, encouraged us to reflect on how joy is more than simply feeling happy. Through inspiring speakers and practical workshops, we explored how joy is a gift from God, something we can intentionally cultivate in our own lives, and something that can shape the culture of our classrooms and school community. It was a wonderful reminder that Christian education is about helping students flourish academically, spiritually and emotionally.
We also participated in PeaceWise training, a Christian organisation dedicated to helping people build healthy relationships through biblical peacemaking principles. The seminar equipped staff with practical tools for preventing and resolving conflict in ways that honour God, strengthen relationships and promote reconciliation. These skills are invaluable as we continue to support our students in learning how to communicate well, solve problems respectfully and live out Christ's call to love one another.
Of course, professional learning isn't complete without a little fun! To finish our time together, staff took part in a friendly lawn bowls competition, with teams representing different areas of the College. There was plenty of laughter, some surprisingly competitive moments, and great opportunities to build relationships across the College. Congratulations to the Administration Team, who claimed the championship title (in spite of several Senior School staff members' protests!). Congratulations also to Sharon Cross who was named Most Valuable Player!
We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in our staff so that, together, we can continue providing the very best learning environment for every student at King's College.
Change to Presentation Night Plans
As we continue planning our end-of-year celebrations, we have made a small change to our Presentation Night arrangements.
After carefully considering the sound limitations of the outdoor venue and the possibility of unpredictable weather, we have decided that the best way to celebrate our students' achievements is to hold two separate Presentation Nights:
Senior School Presentation Night - Thursday 26 November in King’s College Auditorium (as originally advertised)
- Junior School Night of Celebration - Monday 30 November at Lighthouse Theatre
Both evenings will follow a format similar to previous years and will also include a special celebration of our College's 40th Anniversary, making them wonderful occasions to reflect on and celebrate the achievements of our students and our school community.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this change. We believe this revised arrangement will provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for our students, families and guests.
We look forward to celebrating with you at the relevant Presentation Night for your family.
