School Captains Report

S.T.E.M INTERVIEWS:

This term we introduced the STEM room to all grades, where every class will learn and figure out something different about Science. Technology, Engineering and Mathematics [STEM].

The school captains got some of our amazing St Bernard’s students to show what they have been doing in S.T.E.M this past week.  

STUDENTS QUOTES ABOUT S.T.E.M:

Prep: Jude was excited to use the cardboard tools, to screw it in and make it very secure for further building.

1\2: Max: “In S.T.E.M we have been learning about taking apart mechanical objects and seeing the insides and how objects work”

3\4: Jonah: “We have been learning about Newton’s laws.”

5\6: Anthony: “In S.T.E.M we have learned to use materials such as popsicle sticks and rubber bands to build a catapult, and demonstrate how our design would work.”

UPDATES:

On Friday 7th of August is the walkathon, and it is very exciting for the preps since it's the first walkathon they've ever experienced. Students can collect stickers for how many laps they do. Get lots of sponsors and do lots of laps to raise money for new playground equipment! Wear your party themed house colours to also get points for your house team. There are wonderful prizes for students and the class who raise the most money. 

SEA-MONKEYS:

Last Friday at the Prep assembly two people were chosen to put the eggs in the sea monkey container. We spun a wheel to determine who will get to do this job. The two people chosen were, Gianni in 3/4 LK and James F in 5/6 J. They met with Miss Lisa the Stem teacher yesterday, to place the sea monkey eggs in the container. Now it is time to watch them grow!!

ST BERNARD’S DAY:

Soon in three weeks on Friday 21st of August, it is St. Bernard’s day, where we are celebrating the feast day of St. Bernard of Clairvaux. We hope that all the students have a fun day joining in the festivities! More information about the festivities on this day will be shared soon.
