Executive Principal
Term 3 is well underway, and it has been wonderful to see the energy, enthusiasm and sense of purpose across our school. The past few weeks have been busy, but they have also given us plenty of opportunities to celebrate our students, recognise their achievements and support them as they prepare for their futures.
One of the highlights has been our recent Optima Assemblies. It is always a privilege to see our students recognised for their academic effort, commitment and excellence. Last week, we celebrated our Senior School and Year 7 students, and I was incredibly proud of the way they have approached their learning and their journey at PBC. These occasions are important because they allow us to pause and acknowledge the hard work of our students, as well as the encouragement and support they receive from their families and teachers.
Our Year 8 and 9 students will have their opportunity to shine at our upcoming Junior Secondary Optima Assembly. I am looking forward to celebrating their achievements and recognising the progress they are making throughout their junior secondary years.
Another important focus has been helping our students plan for what comes next. Last week, we welcomed students and families to our SET Plan Information Evening and Year 12 Futures Night. These evenings provided valuable opportunities to explore subject choices, further education, training and career pathways. Our SET Plan interviews are continuing this week, with students, families and teachers working together to ensure our young people feel supported and confident in making decisions about their future.
There is also plenty to look forward to as we move through Term 3.
Our Restaurant Week and Alliance Dinner will provide a wonderful opportunity to showcase the skills, creativity and professionalism of our Hospitality students. I know our students are excited to put their learning into practice and provide our community with a fantastic dining experience.
We are also preparing for Festival of the Arts, which will take place across three weeks and celebrate the incredible creativity that exists within our school. From visual arts and music to performance and other creative disciplines, this will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent, imagination and dedication of our students and staff.
For our Year 12 students, the coming weeks are another important step in their senior schooling journey as they prepare for their mock external assessments. These assessments are a valuable opportunity to experience the expectations of their final examinations, identify areas for further revision and, importantly, build confidence. We wish our Year 12 students all the very best as they approach this next challenge with focus, preparation and determination.
As always, I encourage all of our students to make the most of the opportunities available to them. At PBC, we know that a great education is about much more than what happens in the classroom. Whether it is through academic achievement, creative pursuits, vocational learning, sport, leadership or involvement in our wider school community, these experiences help our students discover their strengths, build confidence and become the very best version of themselves.
