Term 3 - are you ready?

Grades 3 - 6 House Athletics Day. - Please see events in your child's profile, on Compass.

 

The Grade 3-6 House Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 8th August at Bill Sewert Athletics Track in Burwood East. Students will be transported to and from the venue with their teacher and classmates in seat-belted buses. Students are to arrive at school just before 9:00am as usual, but please note students who are late to school risk missing their bus. On the day, students will compete in a range of track and field athletics events while representing their house.

 

Track events include; 80m hurdles, 100m sprint, 200m sprint and 800m run.

Field events include; long jump, high jump and shot put. 

Please note that discuss and triple jump will be completed at school.

 

Students are encouraged to come dressed in their house colours and are to wear clothing appropriate to participate in physical activity. Please ensure they have warm, named clothing and running shoes.The house colours are Chisholm (Red), McCubbin (Green), Parkes (Blue) and Melba (Yellow). 

 

Please ensure students bring their school bag to the event with a substantial lunch and snacks, a drink bottle and an asthma puffer if required.

 

Students who perform exceptionally well may earn themselves an invitation to represent Kalinda at the District House Athletics Carnival to be held on Monday 2nd September.

On the day we are after several parent helpers to assist with the running of field events.

Bennett Shield 

Grade 5/6 Sport Competition

 

Every Friday afternoon throughout Term 3 & 4, the Grade 5/6 students will participate in Bennett Shield. This is an inner school sports competition in which students compete in house teams and verse the other house teams in a range of different sports and physically engaging games. 

 

Points are rewarded each round. Teams receive 4 points for a match won, 2 points for a drawn match and 0 points for a match lost.

 

In 2023 PARKES House took out the win. Who will be deemed the Bennett Shield winners of 2024? Good luck to all the houses.
