Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung People of the Kulin nation; past, present and those who will walk with us into the future.

We acknowledge the rich and unique cultural and spiritual relationships to the land, waters and seas, educational practices and the hopes of all First Nations Peoples. We do this in the spirit of reconciliation as we move to a place of justice and partnership - together we work, learn, play and care for one another and this land.

The Acknowledgement of Country below was made by Reuben in Year 4.

School Camps

In these first few weeks of term, we have held our Year 4 Phillip Island Camp and our Year 3 Wombat Corner Camp.

School camps are an amazing opportunity to develop independence, resilience and build relationships between students and between staff and students.

I was very grateful to be able to attend the Year 4 camp. It was a huge amount of fun and I was incredibly impressed by the teamwork our students showed towards each other. The camp staff noted how our students were so great at supporting, encouraging and celebrating the efforts of each other.

I am sure on these camps some amazing memories were formed and they are times that will be looked back on very fondly.

Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents/care- givers/guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

Survey results will inform future planning and decision-making for next year and beyond.

The survey link and Pin will be sent out on COMPASS today.  The survey should only be completed once per household. Parents/guardians/caregivers living in the same household should complete one survey jointly.

Please contact me at shaun.mcclare@education.vic.gov.au if you have any further questions about the survey.

Trivia Night

At the end of last term our Parents and Friends association held a Trivia Night that was a huge success and such a testament to our amazing community. It really was so special to be in a room of so many happy Kalinda faces. Parents and staff had such a fun time and I was so proud to be a part of this community. Thank you to the committee who ran such a fantastic evening.

Public School Council Meeting

Once per year, the School Council holds a public meeting where any members of our community are welcome to attend. It will be a regular School Council meeting, plus we will also present the Annual Report.

The meeting will be held in the school library on Thursday 22nd August 6:00pm-7:30pm.

New bike shed

Our new bike racks were installed over the recent holiday break and now ready to use by all our enthusiastic riders. We have substantially increased the number of racks; these additional 18, being covered from the seasonal elements. The new bike shelter is convenient to riders from Kalinda Road and is in addition to the existing bike racks at the Foundation end of the school.

Mrs Shaw and some of our students will be making a sign for the bike shed and we will be holding an official opening ceremony for it, once that is completed.

A reminder for all riders to dismount and walk with your bike in the school grounds, always wear a helmet when riding your bike and to store your helmet inside the classroom.

We are kind. We are resilient. We are respectful.
