Celebrating Community at SKiPPS

Last week was a wonderful reminder of the strength, generosity and spirit of our SKiPPS community, with two fantastic events bringing families together while supporting our school.
Winter Solstice Celebration
On Friday evening, families gathered to celebrate the Winter Solstice with what is quickly becoming one of SKiPPS' most cherished traditions. Despite the cold weather, the event was filled with warmth, light and connection as students and families created beautiful glowing lanterns before taking part in a magical lantern walk through the park.
The delicious soup and freshly baked brezles were a highlight for many, while the spectacular fire-twirling performance provided a memorable conclusion to the evening. Most importantly, the event gave families an opportunity to come together, celebrate the shortest day of the year and enjoy the wonderful sense of community that makes our school so special.
A huge thank you to SKiPPA, the event organisers and the many volunteers who contributed their time, energy and creativity to make the evening such a success. Events like these simply could not happen without the dedication of so many members of our community. We look forward to seeing this wonderful event continue to grow as a much-loved SKiPPS tradition in the years ahead.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Success
On Sunday, another group of dedicated volunteers donned their aprons and tongs for our fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Port Melbourne.
A special thank you to Kara and Matthew Barbuto for their leadership and organisation of the event, along with the many volunteers drawn from our SKiPPS basketball teams who generously gave up part of their weekend to help raise funds for the school.
The proceeds from the day will contribute towards an exciting upcoming project to replace the ageing benches beside our basketball court and create a new landscaped seating area for students and families to enjoy.
We would also like to acknowledge the generosity of Kirkpatrick's Meats at South Melbourne Market, Masterfoods and Grain Emporium Wholesale, whose donations helped make the fundraiser possible.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated or stopped by to purchase a sausage. Your support continues to make a real difference to our school and helps create the facilities and opportunities that enrich life at SKiPPS.
