A message from the Principal

As we reach the end of Semester One and prepare for a well-earned holiday break, I have found myself reflecting on just how much our students, staff and community have achieved together over the first half of the year.
Schools are busy places and it can be easy to focus on what comes next rather than taking the time to stop and appreciate how far we have come. Yet when I think back to the beginning of February and compare it to where we are today, I cannot help but feel an enormous sense of pride in our school.
One of the great privileges of my role is the opportunity to spend time in classrooms every day. Across the school, I see calm, orderly and purposeful learning environments where students are engaged, focused and working hard. I see classrooms where routines are firmly established, where learning time is valued and where students know exactly what is expected of them. Most importantly, I see teachers and students working together each day towards a common goal: learning, growth and success.
This growth is evident right across our school community. Over the past six months, students have embraced learning opportunities in classrooms, on excursions, at camps, on sporting fields, through performances and within our wider community. They have challenged themselves, persisted when things became difficult and continued to strive for improvement. In doing so, they have brought our school values of Pride, Kindness, Perseverance and Creativity to life.
I am also incredibly proud of our staff. Teaching is a profession that demands expertise, commitment, patience and care in equal measure. Every day I see staff working tirelessly to provide engaging learning experiences, support students to overcome challenges and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. The positive culture that exists throughout SKiPPS is no accident. It is the result of talented and dedicated educators working together with supportive families and wonderful students.
While there is always more work to do, there is also much to celebrate. In the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing our 2026 NAPLAN results and the outcomes of the recent Student Attitudes to School Survey. These measures provide valuable insights into both student learning and wellbeing, and the early indications are extremely encouraging.
The NAPLAN results reflect the strong academic achievement and growth occurring across the school, while the Student Attitudes to School Survey highlights the positive connections, sense of belonging and wellbeing experienced by our students. Together, they reinforce what we see every day: SKiPPS continues to go from strength to strength.
Importantly, these results remind us that the best schools are not simply those where students achieve highly. They are schools where students feel safe, connected, supported and excited to learn. They are schools where strong relationships underpin strong outcomes. I am proud that SKiPPS continues to excel in both areas.
Another source of enormous pride is our school community. One of the things that makes SKiPPS such a special place is that education here extends far beyond the classroom. Throughout the first half of the year, our families and wider community have contributed in countless ways to enrich the experience of our students.
We have come together for community events such as Jazz in the Park, the School Fete, the Parents Battle of the Bands, our Mother's Day celebrations and, most recently, the wonderful Winter Solstice Festival. We have parents and grandparents who volunteer in our Kitchen Garden program, assist with serving pasta and sushi, support excursions and camps, help at sporting events, serve on School Council and SKiPPA, organise fundraisers and quietly contribute in hundreds of other ways throughout the year.
These contributions of time, expertise and energy create opportunities that simply would not exist otherwise. They strengthen the connections between families and the school, enrich our students' experiences and help create the warm, welcoming and vibrant community that we are so fortunate to be part of. On behalf of all of us at SKiPPS, thank you for everything you do to support our school.
As we conclude Semester One, I would like to sincerely thank our students for their hard work, our staff for their extraordinary dedication and our families for their ongoing support and partnership. The success of our school is built on all of us working together.
I hope all members of our community enjoy a safe, relaxing and well-deserved break. I look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be another exciting and successful semester in Term 3.
