Term 3 Week 10                                                                                                   18 September 2026

From the Principal

Hi Everyone,

What a wonderful last week of term we've had! I just love that we got to finish with Book Week! Massive thank you to Mrs Annika Sauvage and the Book Week organisation team, as well as all our wonderful Library Monitors and our staff that bring the ideas to life. Thank you to Ms Cath Priday and a group of enthusiastic, artistic Year 6 children, who have been giving up their time to paint large book covers for our library - they are gorgeous!!  We've had many fabulous opportunities across the week to enjoy and indulge our love of books. Thank you to the Strings groups who performed in the library to celebrate a Symphony of Stories! The incursion was just fantastic, and I have no doubt your children will be telling you all about it if they haven't done so already. The Book Week Parade was just so much fun, and I must thank all of you parents and caregivers out there who helped your children bring their costumes all together as we celebrated a Symphony of Stories. Our assembly that followed on from the parade was just magic.  I was able to read a book Cello and Violin and have two incredible students, Sara and Ayden, play two pieces of music that are in the book, it was beyond beautiful and I almost cried. Thank you to them and Mrs Trudy Weekes for working so hard to be ready for the assembly. We also got to hear who won the Reader’s Cup, congratulations Oxley and the books that the upper and lower school voted for as their favourites out of the shortlisted books! Honestly, it was a truly wonderful event!  Thank you again everyone!

Cross country was a lot of fun on Wednesday and thankfully it was a beautiful day and not viciously hot. Well done to all our children who got into the spirit of this participation event and of course, all our staff who helped. Enormous thanks to Mr Jorma Bushnell and Mr Nathan Reardon who organised this great day.

Congratulations to all the children who received a STAR Award on assembly this week, it is not easy to get one and listening to the reasons they did, they are true Ironside Stars!

We also got to hear our Intermediate Strings on assembly and they were wonderful; they have come so far as an ensemble! Thank you Intermediate strings and Mrs Trudy Weekes

Sadly, we must farewell a couple of our staff as we finish this term. Mrs Kristen Curtis is finishing up in Prep and is going on maternity leave! We are so excited for her and her family; to welcome a new little one but we are going to miss her so much! Thank you so much for everything you've done for Ironside State School Mrs Curtis, and we will hear from you no doubt when you have your baby.

We are also farewelling one of our wonderful Education Support Officers, Ms Yasmin Lisha.  Ms Lisha has been with us this year and has been spreading her joy wherever she has gone across our school we are going to miss her enormously. Thank you so much Ms Lisha!

Well, we have made it to the end of Term 3 and hasn't it been wonderful! Thank you so much to all parents and caregivers and community members out there who've helped to make our school a success this term by supporting us. Thank you so much to our children who made a positive difference to our school every day and work so hard. A huge thank you goes to all our hardworking staff, who are now getting to enjoy a well-deserved holiday.

I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful holiday and that you get to spend time with the people you love, do the things that you need to do, rest, relax and have a lot of fun in amongst it.

I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4, which begins on Tuesday 6th October.

Happy Holidays!
