Year 10 Cathedral Ranges Outdoor Ed Camp

The year 10 Outdoor Education elective ventured out to the Cathedral Ranges on the 5- 6 May for a short hiking camp for students undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award throughout the year. The Duke of Edinburgh award consists of different sections where students need to complete hours in volunteering, physical recreation, skills (learning a language, instrument, cooking etc) and adventurous journey. For this camp, students were working towards completing the requirements for the 'Adventurous Journey'. As part of this program, students learnt the skills required to plan and organise what they needed for an Adventurous Journey in the outdoors. There were many challenges (including hiking up hills), but the students learnt how to work together in the outdoors along the way, supporting each other and helping their peers to overcome challenges and reach their goals of completing the hikes. We look forward to seeing them being able to put more skills into action as the year progresses.
