Year 8 Science Excursion

Body Systems Excursion
In Year 8 Science, students have been learning about the human body and its systems. During an engaging excursion to Yarra Ranges Tech School, students explored these systems using cutting-edge technology.
- Through augmented reality, they interacted with 2D and 3D models of the human body. This immersive experience allowed them to identify and compare the organisational levels of the body, deepening their understanding of anatomy and physiology.
- Students operated drones using block coding, simulating the transportation of small objects. This activity highlighted the increasing role of technology in modern science and medicine.
- Using real healthcare equipment—including stethoscopes, thermometers, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure machines—students learned how to measure and interpret vital signs. They also received an introduction to basic CPR techniques.
- This program provided not only a hands-on understanding of body systems, but also insight into the historical development of medicine and the exciting possibilities within scientific and technological careers.

Student Reflections -
On16 of May, us year 8 students went to Yarra Ranges Tec School. We did 3 different rotations like drones, nursing and other activities. We learnt basic CPR and how to code drones. Overall we had a great day. It was really fun

Today we went to the Yarra Ranges Tec School. It was so much fun and I learnt new things about the human body. We did some exciting activities like how to do CPR. We also did a Kahoot about the human body and even more amazing learning activities. My favourite activity was probably hearing the heart beats and learning about it! It was so much fun and I hope to do it again one day.

I loved doing all the fun activities, where do I begin! First, we got to code some drones and fly them, which was fun. Then I got to do some fun things on the human body and explore it. Then, we got to do CPR and learn about it, which was fun. All fun must end, so we had to leave and go back to school!
