Leadership Report

It has been a fantastic start to Term 2! The students have been extremely settled, demonstrating our school values and following our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support expectations. All classes have made a strong start to their learning and teachers are excited to see the growth that occurs throughout the term.
Year 4 students have commenced their swimming program for 2026. The feedback has been positive, with students showing high levels of responsibility around the water. The Year 6 Cohort visited Craigieburn Secondary College on Tuesday, 28th April as a part of the transition program. A wonderful day was had by all. Please refer to the Year 6 section for more information about this exciting day.
ANZAC Day
Representatives from our school were invited to the annual Craigieburn and District ANZAC Day Ceremony, held at Craigieburn ANZAC Park on Saturday, the 25th of April. Many of the local schools were in attendance, and our two school captains were accompanied by a member of leadership and their parents in this special ceremony. We are proud of our captains as they diligently and respectfully lay a wreath of flowers against the ANZAC Memorial.
On Monday, the 27th of April, we gathered in the gym for a whole school ANZAC Day assembly where our student leaders led the school in our own ANZAC Day commemoration. The assembly resembled the format of the official ANZAC Day ceremony. The school leaders covered topics such as:
- What is ANZAC Day?
- Why do we remember our service people?
- Courage and mateship
- Indigenous perspectives.
Then the leaders led the assembly through the Last Post and a minute of reflective silence.
Junior School Council (JSC)
The 2026 CPS Junior School Councils were announced on Thursday, 23rd April. It was wonderful to celebrate this achievement for the students, and we look forward to seeing the great work this team achieves over the course of the year.

Attendance
At CPS, we have a great focus on students attending school each day and on time because we know that being at school and being present is the vital first step in learning. At our last assembly we took the opportunity to discuss the Term 1 attendance data with our students. We acknowledged the achievements of certain classes that had the highest attendance rates.
For Term 1, four Grades had an attendance rate of 89% - 2B, 4B, 5B and 6C. We will continue to promote and share the importance of why ‘every day counts’ and the importance of being on time. Students need to be in class at 8:50am in preparation for official instruction.
