Auslan

This week, our Grade 4–6 students have been diving into the five key parameters of Auslan—HOLME: Handshape, Orientation, Location, Movement, and Expression.

• Grade 4’s focused on the Handshape parameter, sorting and classifying different signs by hand configuration.
• Grade 5’s extended their learning across all five parameters, creating vibrant posters to explain how each one influences meaning in Auslan.
• Grade 6’s explored the linguistic side of Auslan by examining minimal pairs—pairs of signs that differ by just one parameter—and crafted posters that demonstrate their understanding of how subtle changes can alter meaning.
