Grade 3

What's been happening

Week 2

What a fantastic week it’s been in Grade 3!

Our young mathematicians had an absolute blast diving into our money maths unit; they showed incredible thinking and enthusiasm as they solved problems, made change, and even discovered how much their own names were worth in dollars and cents! Ask them how valuable their name is!

In literacy, we brought the magic of storytelling to life with a Readers’ Theatre experience. Students had so much fun stepping into character and performing scenes from books by the amazing Barbara Cooney, the author we’ve been learning about. Their confidence, expression, and teamwork were truly impressive!

And how could we forget the highlight of the week, supporting our wonderful Preps in celebrating their 100 Days of School! Our Grade 3s went above and beyond, creating colourful and creative decorations to help make the day extra special for their younger buddies. Their kindness and leadership really shone through.

We’re so proud of the way our students continue to grow as learners, leaders, and kind classmates. Well done, Grade 3!

Week 3

In Grade 3, students dived into the exciting world of angles! They learnt how to identify different types of angles, like right angles, angles that are smaller than that and angles that are bigger than that.  Although we do not need to know the names of those angles in Grade 3, there was a lot of interest.  We were soon identifying angles that were right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles. We used this knowledge to help identify some angles left on the tables. Boy were they loving writing on the tables with whiteboard markers.

This hands-on learning is helping them connect math to the world around them, as they spot angles in everyday objects and shapes. It’s a fun and interactive way to build their geometry skills!
