NAIDOC Week Prayer

God of love and compassion, you are the creator of this land and of all its people.
May we continue to learn about and respect the culture, spirituality,
traditions and customs of our First Nations peoples.
May we receive the gift that they bring to us today.
We ask this through Jesus, our model and guide.
Amen.
NAIDOC stands for the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee.
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
As we enter 2025, NAIDOC Week marks a powerful milestone: 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
Through our collective efforts, we can forge a future where the stories, traditions, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are cherished and celebrated, enriching the fabric of the nation with the oldest living culture in the world.
