What's On In Foundation

RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
Last week, Foundation students enjoyed a special visit from Pam and her friendly dog, Clover, from the Responsible Pet Ownership program.
Pam taught the students how to care for pets safely and kindly, and how to interact with dogs in a respectful way. Through fun songs and engaging stories, students learned how to safely meet a dog, recognise when a dog is feeling happy or scared, and what to do if they encounter an unfamiliar or upset dog.
The highlight of the session was having the opportunity to practise approaching a dog safely and giving Clover a gentle pat. It was a wonderful learning experience enjoyed by all!
J is for JAM
In our phonics lessons, Foundation students have been learning about the letter ‘J’ and the sound it makes. We explored lots of words that begin with j and practised listening for all the sounds in the word ‘jam.’ Students also used their growing phonics skills to read our sentence of the week.
To bring our learning to life, we made our very own jam sandwiches! After creating and enjoying this tasty treat, students wrote a procedural text explaining the steps involved in making a jam sandwich.
It was a fun and engaging way to connect our learning about letters, sounds and words to a real-life experience. Perhaps your Foundation student would like to show off their new skills by making you a jam sandwich at home!
