Monday 13th November - Prep 2024 Day 3 Transition 9:30 - 11am (in class groups)

Wednesday 22nd November - School Mass @ 9:30

Saturday 25th November - Community Mass @ 5:00 pm School Hall

Thursday 14th December - Graduation Mass @7:00 pm School Hall

Friday 15th December – End of Year 12:30 Students finish

NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

Our final School Closure Day for the term, is linked to the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. Monday 6th November is a student free day, where staff will begin working on the Semester 2 Reports and the following day Tuesday 7th November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. This four day break is always a timely opportunity for students to rest up and prepare to tackle the final weeks of the year.

CULTURAL WEEK PARADE

The countdown is on for our annual Cultural Week, where students take part in a range of activities. On Wednesday 8th November we ask students to come dressed in something that represents their cultural heritage. Please scroll through the images at the end of this article for outfit ideas from parades we have held in previous years. Weather permitting parents are invited to join us in the undercover area for the Parade of Nations at 9:15am. If the weather is inclement the students will do the parade from the hall and we will live stream the event for parents.

DISCO DANCING @ ST JOHN’S

On Thursday 9th November we will hold various student discos throughout the day. Students in Prep - Year 2 will attend a disco during class time and our Year 3 - 6 students are invited to attend an evening Disco in the school hall. The details of these Discos are as follows:

Prep Disco 12 - 12:30pm

Year 1 & 2 Disco 1- 1:40pm

Year 3 & 4 Disco 6-7pm

Year 5 & 6 Disco 7:30 - 8:30pm

A reminder that students must be promptly picked up from this evening event as we are unable to allow students to walk home by themselves.

SUMMER UNIFORM & SCHOOL HATS

With the commencement of Term 4, all students are expected to be wearing their summer uniform. This includes wearing the school hat. If your child’s hat has been misplaced over the winter months, we encourage you to buy a new one. Hats can be purchased from Rushfords or directly from the school office for $15

FAMILY HOLIDAYS DURING SCHOOL TIME

Families wishing to end the year early to commence family holidays are asked to contact the office to complete documentation which outlines your expected return dates to school. This is vital also for families who may not be back from the commencement of the 2024 school year. Clear communication enables us to ensure all enrolment placements can be held with confidence.

Families should also be aware that the first weeks of the school year are an important time whereby your child becomes familiar with their new classmates, teacher and the routines of the new class. Families should think carefully about these impacts before booking extended holidays.

PREP 2024 TRANSITION SESSIONS

Yesterday, our 2024 Preps attended their first Transition Session. It was wonderful to meet all the students and their parents. Below are some pictures from the day. Next Monday we will be holding the second of our Transition Sessions. We remind parents that non attendance at all of the orientation sessions by a student, may jeopardise enrolment.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS & BEDTIMES

When daylight saving begins, children's bodies aren't getting the usual environmental signals to sleep at their regular time. Sleep is an essential part of everyone's routine and an indispensable part of a healthy lifestyle. Studies have shown that kids who regularly get an adequate amount of sleep have improved attention, behaviour, learning, memory and overall have improved mental and physical health.
