Specialist Classes

Performing Arts - Senior
Welcome back to Term 4, another jam-packed final term for the year to come!
Grade 2’s
This wonderful cohort will be spending the first couple weeks of this term, going over their new knowledge of rhythm notations and transferring this skill onto the instrument called the Glockenspiel. We will start off with simple songs and hopefully graduate to some harder ones, all learning to play in time together.
Grade 3 / 4’s
These two year levels will also be building on their rhythm notation skills and playing various songs on the Glockenspeil. This is a fabulous time for some individuals to shine as well as all playing class music together, with some more difficult songs. Soon, we shall be getting ready for our end of year concert, so warm up those vocal chords!
Grade 5’s
These students will be focusing on completing a music project to present to their class. Each student has chosen a musician, band or artist to research thoroughly with a set criteria, and will present in a few weeks.
Grade 6’s
While the 5’s complete their music projects, the Grade 6’s are busy learning their dance choreography for their Graduation dance. I know this is an exciting time for our most senior students of our school, as they finish up primary school and what better way than to cap it off with a Ms Jedrys dance at Graduation !! I’m sure all the parents of the Grade 6 students are excited to see it!
PUT IT IN THE DIARY!
In case one hasn’t scrolled into their December part of their calendar yet, please do so and take note, that the ENPS End of Year Celebration / Christmas Concert is locked in for
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND FROM 5PM
Each year level will be performing a song and dance, as well as all buddy grades!
Looking forward to seeing you all then!

Junior Visual Arts
This term we will be completing many mixed media tasks where we use lots of different materials to create. For example, the houses above were created using white oil pastel, food dye, craft paper, newspaper and acrylic paint to print green shrubs and grass.
Lots of fun creative tasks have been planned for this term.
Stay tuned everyone 😊

🎶 Performing Arts – Foundation
This fortnight in Performing Arts, our Foundation students have been learning their graduation song. Mrs Hocking chatted with the Prep Teachers about what the Preps love doing at school and what is important for parents and caregivers to hear about when they sing their celebration song… a song was born. And I must say it has a very catchy tune too!!!
The children have all had so much fun learning their song, written for them, and learning some actions and Auslan signs as part of the performance. It has been wonderful to see their confidence develop, their creativity, listening skills and teamwork. during practise 🌟🥁💃
Level 2 students became immersed themselves into taking on the character of a kangaroo when practising and performing an Indigenous inspired kangaroo dance. Over the last two weeks students had worked together, with their group, to choreograph their own kangaroo dance, practised and then performed to an audience. During the performance the audience also participated by playing the clap sticks in time with the beat of the yidaki (digeridoo). All performances were recorded and the children can't wait to watch these recordings next session.
Junior Library
Our Prep & Level 1 students continued enjoying interactive Auslan Storytime sessions with the book 'The Day the Crayons made friends’, by Drew Dywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. Students made many predictions and confidently signed the crayon colours throughout the story. Most importantly they had a laugh and enjoyed the story!
Auslan
Our Level 3/4 & Level 5/6 have been revising Pets. They have participated in a variety of different activities which enabled them to practise Pet signs e.g. dog, cat, horse, bird, chicken, guinea pig, rabbit, horse, snake, lizard. They also practised the protocols for assessments, knowing to look up as soon as they hear the bells ring, then listen with their eyes to see which test number and then which sign, developing a deeper understanding of Auslan being a visual language. I’m pleased to announce, after a bit of practise, students got into the swing of looking quickly when the bells rang so they then felt more confident when answering the question. They felt a wonderful sense of pride when they found that their test results reflected their diligence. Well done!
