WEEK 2 in FOUNDATION!

Mathematics

This fortnight we have re-visited our work in addition with a strong focus on counting on from the largest number - “large in charge”! We have done some ‘shopping,’ using our addition skills to count with $1 coins and buy some toys. We have played dice games, built block towers and done lots of work with counters. We have also enjoyed working in mixed groups across the two classes for these sessions. 

Literacy

This fortnight in Literacy, we have been reading and spelling words with the digraphs sh and ch. We have seen these digraphs at the beginning and the end of words. We are continuing to work on our fluency with daily partner reading. In writing it has been pleasing to see confidence to continue to grow. We have been exploring different types of sentences - statements, questions, and exclamations. 

Inquiry

This term our inquiry unit is ‘Once Upon a Design…’ We have looked at Cinderella and designed a more appropriate shoe for her! This week we have looked at the 3 Billy Goats Gruff and designed a bridge to help the goats cross the river safely. We have had lots of recyclable materials brought in  - keep them coming!

Reminders

If your child wishes to have their own sunscreen, please send this to school! We find students prefer to have their own as it is easier and quicker for them to apply at break times. We do have a bottle in each class. Please apply before school and we will top up at lunchtime!
